Newer 2.3's must be better... Back in the early Gen6 days, and waiting 2 years for my Wildtrak, Ford had the mannequin Broncos to test drive... My local dealer only had 2.3L's, I wasn't impressed with road performance, I was expecting more. I drove a 2.3L Badlands at the Off-Roadeo, and I don't recall much difference, but we were going slow most of the time.

Funny add-on. When my Wildtrak arrived (July '22), the dealer let me drive (test) it right off the truck... Problem was the Bronco was in "Transport Mode?". The 2.7L was a total dog... My wife even complained, which is odd for her.

My 2.7L breaths much better and ProCal tuned, for now.

Put sports mode on it. I have obx. It makes all the difference. Much more responsive. There is a way to un lock it goat mode. Forscan i think?

I just drove my brother's 26 2.3/MT Bronco and the power does feel more linear compared to the old 2.3, but it does not compare to the 2.7 at all IMO. The overall output feels just like the 2.3 it replaced.

My 68 with mild built (small cam, intake & headers) 289 was a dog…not much better after I put a 400m in it…my ’23 2.7 has lots more punch…all this nonsense about them old v8s is just that…the first shelby cobras and mustangs along with the 5.4 in my ‘05 f150 had less power than the 2.7…but sure a supercharged coyote (had one in my ‘14 mustang) would be pretty kool!…carry on

I have a 23 2.7L obx with 4.27 gears and 35s, badlands suspension - drove my buddies stock 2.3L 25' big bend and had the same thought as far as drivability, his was way more nimble. The incrased rotating mass, higher CoG, extra weight on the nose all add up. Stll on the highway the 2.7 gonna pull way harder.

The manual will have more control over the torque/acceleration than an automatic. I've never driven a 2.3 automatic, though. My wife's 2.7 auto has a lot of spunk. But I can control my 2.3 spunk better.
