My 23 badlands just rolled 50k miles and is due for axle and transfer case fluid change.

Im having a hard time identifying what specifications for fluid It takes. I've read Mercon LV, or ford transfer case fluid. If it was a traditional transfer case itd get LV without a thought. Being a 4Auto unit, i dont want to damage any internals.

Axles, the locking m190 and m210s dont have any clutches to my knowledge, so basic 75w-140 will likely be the fluid of choice. Unless someone pipes up and says otherwise with proof.

I hate asking fluid questions, but id rather be safe than replacing a transfer case.

Thanks!

Both transfer cases use LV.
Differentials are up to you. Lots of different options that will be fine.

I have a Raptor and I noticed the owners manual calls for differential gear oil 75w85 but I see 75w90 at the store which will be fine …… however….. looking at this axle on the Dana website they call for 75w140.

What are you using if you’ve changed yours? Thanks! Mike

As long as 75W 140.is fine and will handle higher heat and stress better the 75W is the most important part as the base line.

50k 😳 wow your late lol. Kidding if you don’t do heavy offroad or submerge the axles your fine. I lost a little mpg when switching to the 75-140. I have also read the Dana spec and believe for longevity it is most likely better. Get one of the $15 trans fluid pumps. They screw right on the container. Makes refilling the T case very easy. I changed mine at 25k the front axle and T case were disgusting. Rear looked great.

Its the wifes daily, so I wasnt really worried. We're going to Glacier here at the end of august, and want to do this before we go.

Ive got the tool, I work on diesel pickups, so were good there!
