Yup! 5 tire rotation is the way to go if you want max tread life. Just did mine the other day. This is the one I have saved on my phone so I remember.

I came up with this pattern and it makes the most sense to me because tires wear faster on the front, slower on the rear and not at all for the spare.

Right rear is your main drive tire. If the fronts are somehow getting more wear than your rear I would think you have an alignment issue.

I use the rotation others have posted, where the spare goes to the right rear.

Was literally thinking the same thing. I am sure there is some physical reason to do this convoluted rotation (switches tire rotation direction more often?) but a circle pattern puts each tire in a different location the same amount of miles as any other pattern.

Bronco owner‘s manual curiously only illustrates a 4-tire rotation, but a 5-tire is basically the same if the spare is involved between the LF and RR:

Discount actually asked me what pattern to use. I handed them a printout of the image Chris posted earlier.

I'm getting less and less happy with my local Discount. They rotated on Thursday and forgot to drain the spare down to 38 PSI, so my new RR was running at 52 when I got home.

Altho I'll admit that some ways to rotate 5 tires MAY be 'better' than mine, mine is very simple to do and also to remember--with the spare sitting at bottom-center, each tire is rotated one position clockwise.. After the 4th rotation, each tire has operated in each of the five positions for c. 5000 miles.. That's plenty good enough for me.

Ever any issues with TPMS learning the new tire position?

It was interesting to read other posts where people have said they have had issues. I regularly switch between the OEM KO2s and a second set of street tires mounted on their own wheels. The street tires have after-market TPMS sensors and neither has been a problem when switching between the two sets. I don't rotate the tires once mounted, however, because they get rotated when I switch between them.

For those of you who pay for rotations:
How many rotations to add what percentage of tread life?

If you buy...say three sets of tires over the life ownership of your bronco...say 150,000 miles..;
What did you save on tread life?
It surely doesn't equate to money youve spent on rotations because youre buying that third set anyway....

I've not rotated tires since the bias ply days and yet I've never had a wear pattern that shows I've needed a rotation.

Is tire rotation a similar heritage thing like 3,000mile 3month oil changes, or can a measurable savings be proven?
Time has consequence. The additive time in a waiting room due to tire rotation?

Who here has had an actual real tire wear problem that wasn't really caused by a mechanical/non-tire issue?

I am of the mind that if I life-long paid attention to exact proper inflation, rotation, tires vs mileage...that sometime around my 99th birthday and my 25th vehicle I will have saved enough money so my final set of tires will be free due to my lifelong commitment to tire maintenance.

If rotation adds 10% to tread life...you have to buy the tenth set of tires to garner any savings worth saving.
Who here will buy a tenth set of tires for any one vehicle?
'due to my rotation diligence I bought only 9 sets of tires in my lifetime instead of 10 sets of tires'.

But
I amortize everything so my math isn't normal math.
