They should have used a 392 Rubicon / Moab as the Octo and Raptor are top of the line models. The Willy's spec isn't fully loaded and doesn't have front lockers.

Agreed. However, considering its limitations in that respect, it did very well overall.

What is never mentioned is how overpriced the Wrangler 392 is.
A standard Wrangler Willys in the same exact spec minus the 392 motor is $52k. Add the motor and the price is $72K.

A 2026 Dodge Durango SRT 392 w the exact same motor as the Willys 392 is $50K.

Of course the joke is on the original Wrangler 392 buyers who paid over $100k because Jeep said it was a limited edition one and done never to be seen again vehicle….

And that is not even mentioning the fuel starvation issues the Wrangler 392 suffers from - go down a steep incline w the gas tank less than half full, and the pump starts to suck air stalling the vehicle.

Prices got insane. I pre-ordered a 392XR in fall of '21 and delivered in May 22. It was just $76k out the door. About $8k below MSRP from Granger. I thought that pricing was crazy expensive then and no way I would have dropped $100k for one.

I wanted a Braptor but couldn't get one at the time and they too were asking like $100k when finally released.

Just because it's a show room vehicle doesn't make it fair. The AEV is loaded with non Jeep aftermarket parts making it significantly more capable than a stock 392.

That said having 2 of these vehicles (defender, braptor) i can say the experience between the 2 is very different. all depends on what your use case for the vehicles are as both have their tradeoffs depending on that.
