Door Rubbing on the Body

This must be a 4 door problem I take it

I can confirm this problem is not exclusive to the 4-door models only; my 2-door Base has the same paint wearing problem as others described above. So far, only on the driver side door.

I currently have this happening, same exact spot. Ive been using a touch up pen the last few weeks but it inevitably still chips. Finally reached out to Ford today and they had me take it to a body shop to evaluate. Also noticed the entire sill has one long chip from the whole underside of the door. Will update when I hear back, itll be covered under warranty.

Just popping in to say this is still an ongoing issue. 2023 Big Bend 2 door, December 2023 build date. Ford is fixing it under warranty in a couple weeks.

I noticed it happening to the rear doors on mine a week or so ago as well. Front doors have no issue. 2022 Badlands, about a year and half old, 30,000km. Contacted dealer but haven’t heard back. Seems strange, as neither of the doors look out of alignment or mismatched when closed. Is this a design flaw?

It’s an assembly flaw, not a design flaw. Seems like the starting job for newbies is hanging and aligning the doors. Mine is off a bit but then the spear stripe was added afterwards so I’m leaving it as is.

Yeah, could be.. it just doesn’t look like there’s anything out of the ordinary in terms of the doors are aligned. They seem to match up with all the panels. But if they match up, why the door to frame contact I wonder? Hopefully my dealer has a fix.

I can’t speak for yours, but both of my doors are not properly aligned and the drivers door is just barely touching the lower corner. Maybe excess paint build up on that lower corner of the door for yours?

Yep happened to me also...I suggest getting your video camera ready and recording the action the bodyshop does to the door....I about sh1t a purple twinkle when I seen the ”tech” put a 4 ft bar un the lock mechanism and reef on it with all his weight...jerking and tugging , checking by open- slamming door 20 Xs, and also he lifted up on the door with what seemed like all he could muster.

I watched in horror.

When he was done with all the shenanigans, I left as fast as I could. It IS marginally better...

I took it home, loosened and adjusted the striker, had to swap sides with the strikers and bend one a tad with a heavy hammer...

Both doors fit better now, but the driver still sounds ”tinny” when shut as opposed to the passenger which sounds more solid ...

I'll probably remove the strikers again and heat them and rebend them , or build new ones. As they don't line up with the latch mechanism very well.
There is NO additional adjustment there or anywhere else was the ”techs” claim.

I worked with a guy as an apprentice electrician who had been a tow truck driver for many years. He calls me up one day after work and asks me to come by a house, he needs my help. Bring a flat pry bar.

I show up, he's got his Astro Van on the street. "Got the pry bar?" I hand him one I just bought.

He walks over, rams it between the door and the roof on the passenger side, shoves it down as hard as he can, and starts bending it back. He's putting all his weight on it (he wasn't a big dude). He calls me over. "Stick your hand in there and pull as hard as you can." I'm like, wut?? "Yeah, just do it. Pull!"

So we're both pulling on this window frame on the door, yanking, it's bending, I'm afraid the window is going to shatter. It's bent about I dunno 3-4" back, he hops up and sits on the windshield/hood, and puts his arm in and unlocks the door. Took maybe 90s.

Never saw anything like it. A lady comes out and is like, "Ima call the cops!" "Lady, it's my van! Go back inside."

He turns around, hands me the pry bar back, and goes, "Let's get outta here, I don't wanna be here if the cops show up." And he drives off with the door all bent back.

I noticed this happening to mine. I put some scrap leather between my hammer and the point where the door was touching the body, and gave it a lil dent. No more touching and I patched it with a touch-up paint pen. Using the thick leather scrap kept it from chipping the paint.
