Washing with well water - how are y'all avoiding hard water?

Been washing my butt and cars with well water for 60 years... never hurt either one.... Lord help us all...

Yup, I've been using it just fine for all 27 years of my life, and I'd much rather have well water over city water. Our well water just has LOTS of minerals in it, especially at the garden hose because the hose bypasses our whole-house filter. Heaven forbid I want to filter my water before washing my car with it lol.

In your situation I'd use a waterless wash system. Meguiars/etc. all sell kits. It's just spray on/wipe off type cleaning.

It's not that well or hard water is bad, as long as you can dry the car off quickly enough to not let the minerals harden into a stain, it's that I'm lazy and don't want to be on top of my RV chamois-ing it off, and it's so convenient that I do it with the cars, too...

Albuquerque has very hard water, so I just don't wash my Bronco. Problem solved!

I’ve got a hot/cold hosebib with all soft. You mix the water just like you do in shower . I wash my cars in nice Luke warm water. In the winter I use hot to get that salt off my cars. If you’re a car guy it’s worth spending $750 and get a plumber to get you a hosebib in your garage for washing your cars

Cut up an old garden hose. Some
old radiator hose clamps. Maybe some RTV if anything doesn’t fit right, and slap

Hey all! I live with my parents, and we have well water. While I love the taste compared to city water, I can see that we've got a crazy hard water problem, especially because the garden hose bypasses the whole-house filter we have. What do y'all recommend for filtering the water and getting those minerals out to prevent water spots? I typically dry my vehicle immediately after washing it, but sometimes I either miss a spot or just don't have time. Any solutions y'all have found?

I e been washing my vehicles all my life and I’ve never had a problem with my well water causing water spots. That being said, I never wash my car in the sun where the chance of the water drying before I get the drying towels on it. Also, I keep a good coat of wax on them. If you use good quality waxes, they should last several months. Keeping it in a garage extends the wax job also. Alternatively, buy a good quality vehicle blow dryer. They’re pricy, but if you install a filtering system, that’s a large chunk of the cost. This one listed is American made by Metro-vac in New Jersey.
Lastly, most water spots come not only from not drying after a wash, but from nature when it rains. In most states “acid rain” is a big issue.

Leaf blowers seem to do pretty well. Still need to go around with a towel, but it's a quick touch up, not a slog

Yeah I just use my Craftsman 450cfm leaf blower. Easy peasy job with mcguire's ultimate paste wax.

Nothing tastes better than a cool drink of well water. My old home had a “sand well”which was naturally filtered. Where I live now I have a “rock well” bored down 450’. Still great tasting and cold. I’ve never had issues with well water as long as you dry after the wash. Never had a water spotting problem.
