I’ll start off by saying I’m a big guy. I’m 6’1”, 270 lbs and all torso. For me, the Bronco seats are plenty wide, but the back of the seat is very short and doesn’t provide any support for my upper back, which causes a lot of upper back and neck pain. I’ve tried multiple things…padded seat covers, seat jackers, and most recently; a powered OBX seat. Nothing has worked… still have pain.

I’ve debated on selling my Bronco, but I truly love it and want to figure out a way to keep it, hence this thread.

Example of my problem:

Ford Bronco F-150 Seat Swap into Bronco - DIY Thread IMG_7193

After some research and some guidance from @Ducati1098 I decided to start looking for a F150 seat. More specifically a 10 way powered seat to match the OBX powered seat that’s currently in my Bronco.

I settled on an 18-20 F150 seat and found one for a great price on eBay. i’ll share more details on the wiring later, but long story short it’s very easy to do. I’m talking with a fabricator right now to see if we can swap the seat bottoms from the stock OEM seat to the F150 seat. I’ll share more details as things progress.

Quick video of the setup

Great job! I thought of going this route with F150 Raptor Recaro seats, but they are really pricey if you can even find them. Still might look into really pricey off road seats, but to me the Bronco seats are adequate, I tilt the head rest forward so it touches my head.

Interesting. I’m 6’2”, 34” inseam. Never experienced any issues with the Bronco seats. My 18 F150 Lariat did have some nice comfy seats though. Now my old Gladiator seats are a different story. They were brutal.

Just take the head rests off and store them with the back seats you remove... Like I did.

Hmmm.... This could be a great way to get ventilated seats... I'm interested...

Katzkin is an option too. They’re fantastic and you can have the installer upgrade the foam while everything is torn apart. And they actually cool-not just blow cabin air. Would highly recommend. Digging this swap idea though. F150 recaros were awesome

Here are some pics of the frame rails.

Bronco (Top) vs. F150 (Bottom) - quite a big difference

Why are all the wires the same color? This is making me twitch. 😆
That's just how replacement pigtails come. That connector is probably used on multiple different vehicles, so matching wire colors is not an option.

Here are the 10-way power seat diagrams for both the Bronco and 18-20 F150 - thanks to @Ducati1098

As you can see from above, the wire colors are the exact same. The placement is just slightly different.

I needed to purchase a new Bronco seat wiring assembly like shown HERE

All I did was mimic the placement of the wires using the Bronco's powered seat connector as reference.

I worked with wiring adapters for car audio and such and they came color-coded. Even when the colors are different, it's a lot easier remembering white-blue goes to red than green goes to red, green goes to blue, green goes to black, green goes to white... 😆

Yeah neither one are really ideal. Just the way Ford does it though.
