No problem. Putting this work / thread to rest. My build is officially complete. AMB OBX, 33.2 tires on stock rims, steel bumper, roast interior, lux, MIC with rack, 2.7L auto with higher gearing. No sas, keep the painted flares for horizontal surface for blue pops along what will likely be black vertical side slabs. Going to looks sinister and save me almost 5k even after you factor in cost of tires and zero recouped from stock wheels if I decide to keep. Really happy with that outcome...and I get a 0.55 lift from the tires which puts me into Badlands ride height since my tires are bigger than BL tires but no lift, it’s about the same
Thanks for all your work. I’ve learned a ton. My desired build is also OBX on stock rims. But this being my everyday vehicle, I want to have a C load range tire. Are there any C’s in the 275/70/R18?

No. The best option, actually the only option, for a non E load, is ONE tire, and a popular tire, with load D, which is why I posted the info directly above. 275/70/r18 Goodyear duratrac. It’s comes in E and D, so make sure you look at D stats. It’s 3.7 lbs over badlands ko2 and half inch bigger in diameter.

Thanks! If anything it looks like we are picking up space. Nothing I’m seeing seems to be working against us.

Found a second option on tire. Someone else recommended Bridgestone Revo 3s in 275/70/r18. The confusion was that these are actually E load. However they only have a weight of only 50 lbs. so lighter than duratrac at 53.7. FYI the KO2s in this size E load are about 58 lbs. so Revo 3s are by far the lightest in the class and weigh the same as 285/70/17 ko2 c load on the badlands which are also 50 lbs. Very good reviews on wrangler forums. Ratings for ride comfort and noise are actually better than Duratrac D load. So if the weights down and the ride comfort and noise ratings is very good maybe it’s not as problematic that they are E load. Better than duratrac and ko2 in wet. Same as ko2 in snow, however duratracs d load seem best in snow with a penalty on weight and ride comfort.

FYI all rating are better than stocker duellerĂ  which are junk. So overall it should be an improvement.

discussion between Revo 3 and Duratrac. Funny how I’m ending up where others are at. https://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/266865-wrangler-duratrac-vs-revo-3-a.html

EDIT - Found a third tire. And possibly the best. A new lightweight E load that’s aggressive. Came out this year and weighs in at 52 lbs AND it’s 33.4- 33.5” diameter. Aiming for this one. Link below. Toyo All Country AT3 275/70/r18

SEE UPDATED FIRST POST - more factory on site dimension imply 33.7x11.2 will fit.

Going back to those toyos in a slightly smaller 33.4, this just received (take with a grain of salt) although return policy is great. Definitely planning to have a go at the AT3s in 275/70r18

I was looking at the open country a/t 3s as well, they have a c load range 285/75r17 that’s right in the range I want to be (basically 34x11r17), looks similar to the Cooper ATP that I like so much, and pretty reasonable price.

Found another option. 34.3” in STANDARD LOAD. 295/70r18. Definitely a unicorn. Drawings are showing this comes incredibly close to not rubbing. As in .3” from spindle, 1/8” from rear crash bar full turn, and actually hitting front crash bar in full turn on top down view, although front crash bar sits higher, so if there’s more than 2” of articulation with the wheel turned then it will rub on front crash bar. Payload is 300 lbs more than stock tires per wheel. Tire is very light given it’s SL, not LT series, let alone E load. This could be the perfect tire for highway driving if you want max max max size tire. Only real world testing could confirm this will fit. It’s awfully close to the spindle and control arm on stock rims.

Thank you for this thread. I have been depressed because my budget has forced me to no saq on BD. However, now I know I can get 285/70/17s. Can't wait. May have Stephens Auto go ahead and put them on at delivery. Thanks everyone for the calculations.

You may find that even 295/70/17s dont give you a problem either. If youre considering going that big, i would wait to get the car to spot check all these dimensions in the real world. But if the plan is just 33s (285/70/17), it seems like a sure thing at this point.
