As researched prior, I have heard many pros and cons to both engines. As I came from a V8 5.2L engine, I have been eager to upgrade my 22' Bronco 2.3L Manual to either the alternative 2.7L V6 or greater. As I am new to the forums, I have read several other posts in regards to swaps. I am looking for recommendations on how hard a swap would be to the 2.7L, and if not, should I spend this time and money on a different engine?

Uhhhhh, why not just order the Bronco with the 2.7?

Love that this is your first post, Great things in the future for sure, please make a thread for your engine swap so we can all see how it goes!

The same manual transmission that isn't used in any of the twin-turbo or V8 applications because of it's limited torque handling?

Harder to swap auto to manual than stock manual with something that could handle the increased torque

Just build up the 2.3 engine. It will be way cheaper than doing a swap. This guy got 428HP and 452TQ at the wheels on his Ford Ranger: ....and you get to keep the manual.

You might have to wait for some parts but here is his list of parts:

CR Performance stage 4 57mm Turbo
SPD Performance catted downpipe
SPD Performance catback exhaust
Mishimoto Intercooler pipes
Mishimoto Performance air intake

I am guessing stock intercooler but I know Mishimoto already has pipes, intercooler and intake for Bronco. You just need to find a 2.3 downpipe and an upgraded turbo plus a tune.....

Why such a hurry to get more power before you have a Bronco? Neither the 2.3 or 2.7 are under powered and as has been posted the 2.3 is capable of v8 numbers with proper tweeking.

Good point. I've got the 2.3 with K&N CAI plus Ford Performance Tune running 93. It pulls nicely when I want it too.

How much would a custom bell housing cost? What would it take to swap in a 2.7 into a 2.3 with a stick

Time and money.
The ECU hasn't been cracked yet. The biggest hurdle will be getting the 2.3 computer to work with the 2.7. Or, the 2.7 computer to work with the manual transmission.
