I hear ya, my main concern is being this will be on the vehicles record now that they pulled the top of the engine apart is this going to screw me on trade value in 3 years when I trade
I would be more concerned with the dealer not using the updated parts. If you check out FordTechMakulocco's channel, he has various examples of dealers not using the correct phasers on 3.5EB's.

1. That guy is a clown
2. It has nothing to do with the dealer. Those were Ford’s instructions.
3. The Bronco is totally different. There’s only 1 part number available to order.

Why do these issues have to span multiple years? FFS, fix it with next year's updates...quit sending the same problematic parts out.
You have to remember that this is the same company that is putting out a hard top that is almost 5 years of production in and still having problems cracking and bubbling. I think Ford has had a long history of problems with their cam phasers.

Aeh if it fails again then they’ll be pulling it apart and doing it again

Yes they do, my 2018 Raptor had this issue at 29k miles and my dealer actually removed the entire cab to repair! Back in the day folks on the Raptor forum we’re having to go through the cam phaser repairs multiple times! The cam phaser issue goes even further back than my 2018 and Ford still hasn’t fixed the issue…happens to many of the Ecoboost engines and is fairly common. Just dumbfounded that Ford hasn’t found a permanent fix for this yet. Was very disappointed to see it‘s still an issue on the 2.7s after all this time...not bashing, just disappointed in Ford for letting this continue!

I tried to post the video of it but it wouldn’t let me I don’t know what yours sounds like but when this started happening it sounded like an old school mechanical diesel for a few seconds
Yeah, I say like a really noisy sewing machine, then it gets quiet after it idles down.

Yours seems different than what I have then going off what you’re sayin, this is at initial start up for the first 3-5 seconds sound like ball bearings shaken in a can loud and distinctive stops way before the idle kicks down

So my 2023 2.7 with bit over 5,000 miles suddenly makes a terrible racket "dieseling" noise on cold startup. Did read through this thread and near sure it's the cam phaser thing. Called dealer and got a service appt on Mon. July 29. Not happy waiting but this seems to be how vehicle service goes these days.

Here's a sound clip. It only lasts about a second right after ignition.

That’s exactly what mine does , it won’t let me upload my sound clip but that is 100% cam phasers take it in to the dealer

Why can't the Ford bot explain why cam phasers are still crapping the bed?

Pretty big job. If you do it by the book, the engine has to come out. Warranty pays almost 20 hours
My concern in this era with employment issues....do dealers really have staff qualified to do major engine repairs such as this....let a lone pulling an engine?

Every dealer is different.
Mine has a lot of good qualified guys that do heavy line work every day, but not all dealerships are the same.
