I wonder now, will the 2.7L V6TT have forged internals ???? ?

Because the guy talking about the Bronco R in a video Said we will be getting the same motor as the R ?
????

The 2.7 in the Bronco R is an "off-the-shelf" standard 2.7 Ecoboost.

Sure... absolutes aren't always appropriate, but let me get specific for a moment:

-The 2.7L V6 was designed, from the beginning, for forced-induction. It is a turbo-motor architecture from top to bottom. The layout, materials and design support high boost and appropriate cooling. Adding additional boost will have a pretty minimal effect on engine life.

- V8's are no smoother than V6's nowadays so either is going to work fine. Modern balance-shaft engine design allows either motor to spin pretty freely.

-Personally I prefer the large amount of low-end torque that the 2.7LTTV6 offers over the more linear (but less useful) powerband in the V8. Moving big tires at slow speeds requires torque, and between the 10spd auto, the low range transfer case, and the low-end torque in the engine, the Bronco should be just fine.

-The Bronco isn't a vehicle that needs crazy-high horsepower... it's not a racecar, it's an offroad/overland vehicle. I personally think that the 2.7L is a STRONG motor from the factory, so I would only ever want a modest increase in power (400hp is a nice, round number).

-The Bronco engine bay is too small (IMHO) for a large radiator. The biggest problem with making a LOT of horsepower is COOLING it. Turbo V8's require MASSIVE radiators to keep them from overheating... there just isn't that kind of room.

-Honestly, I think more people will end up buying the 2.3L V4 than we might expect, because that motor is going to offer PLENTY of capability for the average buyer. Certainly this would be the best 'overland' motor due to the increase in gas mileage (and range).
V4? How accurate is the rest of your post? Yikes.

NA is so much better for towing, guys!

  • The highest tow rating for F150s is with the NA 5.0
  • Those big Super Duty, 1000lb-ft of torque, diesel tow rigs are all NA for a reason
...right?
I could be wrong, but do not think this is correct. I beleive the 3.5 EB has or had the highest gasoline rating prior to the release of the 7.3. I do beleive the 3.5 eb is still the highest in the F150 though. I read up on this before I bought my last F150.

HAHA, sorry, my bad. I should never read forum posts prior to coffee! hahaha
No worries. We all need either more or less caffeine before using this forum, haha.

I own a 2017 3.5 EB F150 myself. :D

Prior to this F150, I had a 2010 with the great ol' 5.4L and didn't think I'd like any Eco Boost malarkey, but I gave it a thorough test drive and was sold.

Well I hope the V6TT motor comes with forged internals, because ANYTHING force inducted needs forged internals in my book.

Especially for those "Me" who are going to push these motors off-road to there limit

Do we have any decent guesses yet what the 4 door 2.7l mpgs will be? I think a 2wd f150 2.7l is 20 city, 26 hwy, which seems to me pretty good for a full size truck. So any information on the mpgs of the Bronco 2.7l?

It's going to average in the high teens is my guess. It's heavy with aggressive axle ratios

A fully loaded 4-door Bronco is going to weigh 5,320 lbs. A SuperCrew 4x4 F-150 with the 2.7 weighs 4,858. MPG's ain't gonna be great!

Thanks, if I buy a Bronco it won't be with the larger tires, hopefully it will not be that heavy

It's also going to be about the same as the 2.3l. I actually wouldn't be surprised if gets better than the 2.3.
