I could be wrong, but do not think this is correct. I beleive the 3.5 EB has or had the highest gasoline rating prior to the release of the 7.3. I do beleive the 3.5 eb is still the highest in the F150 though. I read up on this before I bought my last F150.
yup I have a 19 F150 3.5 max tow package.

NA is so much better for towing, guys!

  • The highest tow rating for F150s is with the NA 5.0
  • Those big Super Duty, 1000lb-ft of torque, diesel tow rigs are all NA for a reason
...right?
You must not be aware that the Power stroke diesels are ALL turbo charged, not NA. The newer ones put out around 30 pounds of boost.

All Power Stroke engines are naturally aspirated. They bolted on fake turbos just to overcharge you, man.

I grew up waterskiing behind a 18 foot ski boat with a blown 454 running on av gas. My daily drive is a 2019 f150 with a 2.7 and a 10 speed. In a Bronco with 4.70 gears I'm sure it will put a smile on my face like my f150 does in sport mode from the line. I do miss the HP V8 noise, but my heart likes the acceleration and my brain likes 22 plus mpg. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the 2.7. I've owned the 3.5 in a 2012 f150 and it was great for towing and averaged 18 unloaded. The 2.7 just has better acceleration and little lag over the 3.5. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3.5 makes it into the bronco eventually. Frame width and center of gravity dictates V8 options on the bronco will not be an option. Especially when Ecoboost rules in hoursepower per cubic inch and torque for that matter. Forced induction rules!!!

You are right. My 3.5 tows 13,200lbs which bests the 5.0 by 1900lbs.

Not a 'Boomer" I'm a 'Gen-X'.

This is (1) of the reasons why we cry no V8. So we can make it sound like this...Skip ahead to the 1:30 mark.

I am, unfortunately a "millennial", but my first truck was a 79 bronco with the 400. I put long tube headers on it and dual glass packs that turned out behind the door and before the rear wheels. Good grief she sounded mean, but there wasn't much listening to the radio haha

I sure don't give an F about sound, yeah NA V8 are simpler engines to work with but the EB tech has been evolving to the point where you no longer need more than a V6 for regular use. If you plan on towing close to rated max, then get a diesel pickup to pull that load.

it's no joke…....get him!!!!

Everyone knows the Bronco has to be fast when u race for pink slips.
I was born in ‘95 but make no mistake I love a V8 and will opt for it whenever offered. That being said, I do respect the ecoboost. I drove a few at my first job out of college in oilfield service. Great engines, and my goodness the torque.

My experience with turbocharged engines began in a ‘06 WRX with a Stage 1 map from COBB. It was a complete BEAST. I’m really excited to see with the TT V6 brings to the table. I’m 50, and have owned more than a few V8s in my time (‘68 GTO with a 400SB, ‘67 ‘Cuda with a 383, and a ‘70 Nova with a 350, to name a few). I LOVE V8s-but that little 4-banger opened my eyes, and impressed the hell out of me.

I’ve had and still have a full bolt on E85 STi and I agree, impressive for a 4 banger. I’ve used Cobb for 15 years on my Subbies and they have tuning for the 2.3 in the Mustang, Focus. Maybe they will come out with something for the 2.7. I expect they will have Bronco Support and whether the 2.3 or the 2.7 adding up to 100 whp and torque should be pretty easy and cost effective no matter what tuner you use. Can’t wait till shops start tuning Broncos.

Yep. I daily drive a Cobb tuned WRX. Putting a 93 octane map on the 2.7 will make it beastly.
Mine was tuned at TopSpeed Motorsports (now Cicio) and it's a dramatic difference.
