Well, looks like my plan to make a move to Florida may be panning out, so my first cruise in my Bronco will probably be on the beach with the top and doors off

As for the new decade, it frankly scares me. My whole life has revolved around cars, but it looks as if that lifestyle may be dying. Sedans are being mostly killed off, manual transmissions make up 1% of new car sales in America, and there are already countries putting a time of death to the ICE by means of deadline requirements for full electrification, with ours likely not far behind. Our days are numbered, and it's sad that I'll see the death of car enthusiasm in my lifetime

I always say in reference to my Mustang that I bought one of the last new cars to ever be offered with a V8 and a manual transmission. I feel my Bronco will be the last new car I buy with an ICE and a manual transmission

Car enthusiasm won’t die but it is changing fast these days.
There will be a new line of enthusiast that conform around electric powered cars soon. It well be interesting to see develop. Electric cars are already competing with and out performing most internal combustion cars. However, it’s unfortunate for them as a new generation wont feel that raw connection with power and being connected to the vehicle in ways you only can with a manual and gas powered vehicle.
I think in the off-road world there is still a lane for enthusiasts. Electric trucks and off-road vehicles can still be a thing and might have many benefits in the long run.

Back to the topic at hand...

I can’t tell everyone how excited I am for this year. I know I won’t be driving a Bronco this year but we are finally going to see it come to life again.
We’ve been waiting over two decades and the off-road world has felt like it’s been incomplete since the Bronco and (hate to say it) Blazer left it.
I just got my license when the Bronco was discontinued and was in love with it since I was like seven. It was brutal to see it go and Ford have no real replacement for it. I bought an old Bronco 2 as my first truck and had two full-size Broncos. Almost bought a 66 for my first but mom was scared it was too old. I’ve been strictly Bronco owning until recently when I bought a Tacoma.
I have sent Ford emails for years and pushed for a new Bronco in forums and news posts. To me the Bronco (and even Scout) has always been the perfect off-road vehicle.
I almost lost my shit when the 04 concept came out and thought there would be momentum to build a new one soon but that faded and for a while there I thought it might be hopeless.
But now here we are and it looks better then ever and its the size I always wanted Ford to go back to. It’s been way too long but holy shit it’s here and it’s on its way to finally being a reality.
It’s to the point where seeing 2020 instantly just makes me think of the new Bronco every time I see the year.

I hope and pray that they make it right but all signs are looking good. It’s safe to say at this point that it’s not going to disappoint. It’s just a matter of details I can work with. It’s going to be a lot of fun this year seeing how it all shapes out.

ITS HAPPENING! ITS REALLY HAPPENING!!!

But the prices are going to have to come down. I'm assuming that this will be the last ICE vehicle I ever buy.

I was in the market for a low cost gas sipper family run-a-about vehicle, and a few days ago bought a new Kia. (Never thought I'd say that, lol.) It has a manual transmission and no enhanced "active safety" stuff. Uses something called a "key" to open the doors and turn on the engine. :) I like that this vehicle is not doing all kinds of funky stuff on it's own. A new car with decent warranty for 14 grand - I can't complain much.

One thing killing the car lifestyle are the prices. For example the SUV and 4x4 prices have mostly jumped the shark. If purchased new in 1985, my CJ7 base model was around $7,000. Today corrected for inflation that comes to around $17,000. Yet a new Wrangler base model is around $28,000. Nearly 10 grand more. And it's still just a ladder frame live axle rig. (And good god some folks are spending upwards of 50 grand.)

Kia wasn't around in 1985, but a comparable base model economy car the Ford Escort, was around $5,000 in 1985. Adjusted for inflation that comes to $13,000 today. Basically what I spent for my new Kia. So comparing the past/current economy car prices with what has occurred in some SUV/4x4 pricing, you can see the latter prices jumped sharply.

The days of people like me buying a reasonable cost new 4x4 like a CJ for real utility and off-road use are gone. It's just a different market. With that said, the new Bronco will have to come in a base model in the low 30 grand range for me to bite. It will have to entice and give me a reason why it's more fun for the money than my old Jeep or Land Rover.

I'm driving an '02 T-bird right now. (well, not this second, it is out in the parking lot...) lt's kind of fun, fairly sporty for an '02, if underpowered by today's standards, bit girly though...I'm borrowing it while I work on my 250. and some horrible blind spots with the top up.

yeah, my Mustang, a top of the line model for '71 not quite fully optioned out but close, would cost about 22-23k today. A modern equivalent would be the Bullitt, at 50k+. Even a base model costs more.

Totally agree with this, I think general vehicle cost is overall ok its the option/package prices that have gotten out of control. Our expedition was more than my cayenne, yeah one's an 09 the other a 19 but still Porsche prices haven't gone up near as fast as loaded American models. I passed both my golden ticket 500 allocations due the outrageous cost, a mustang should never cross $100k! The market will bear the price so it is what it is, I'm just glad we keep getting badass cars in this day an age, seems like where going on 20yrs of "the muscle car is dead!"
