Awesome! That fancy new American steel frame looks very beefy indeed.

... now can we have a higher max tow rating?

“goal to decrease the total vehicle weight reduction by 10 percent” so increase the weight?

I'm not going to read the entire thread so this might have been posted already...

I found this.

" With the second generation of steels, body engineers had some limitations in using the higher strength grades for parts that play a role in energy absorption or parts that were complex in shape. The use of Fortiform eliminates this limitation. Because of their high corrosion protection capacity and surface quality, Extragal coated products are recommended for numerous automotive applications, for both exposed and non-exposed parts."

Strong is nice. Corrosion resistance is awesome.

So the coating on the steel is going to help prevent the dissimilar metal corrosion with the aluminum. Unless that coating is conducive? Interesting stuff.

Everyone knows they should have gone for Rearden Metal. Anything else is just a compromise.

One of the claimed properties of this steel is increased corrosion resistance due to a different formulation of the galvanizing material. Only time will tell.

The first thing to corrode through on my Cherokee when I was stationed at Schofield Barracks was the steel under the seat. I was driving on to Wheeler AAF, hit a speed bump, heard something break and dropped about an inch. Oahu killed that poor Cherokee. Well, that and I used it to haul around SCUBA gear.
My current vehicle is a 99 Cherokee classic

Right!

Last thing we needed to hear was "a new seam sealer was also developed in conjunction with this new steel, it sucks 1% less than before"....

There is a reason women prefer men who can weld.

And this lucky guy replaced his Harbor Freight welder with Big Blue!

Those Millers are nice.
