Hello friends,

My 2023 Bronco Badlands accelerates dangerously while in four-wheel-drive low. The transmission appears to be in first gear, then suddenly and dangerously surges forward and begins to accelerate. I then have to hit the brakes before hitting the vehicle in front of me. Yesterday it happen 10+ times, without any warning.

. That sounds hair raising scary. Only in 4wd low? Gonna have to agree with Area51BS. Straight to dealer.

check your floor matts and carpets then head to the dealer!

if you're in baja or sport mode, the gas pedal will be a tad more squirrelly

I’m so confused, are you are on an off road trail or driving on the road? If your on the road why are you in 4Lo? Yes the car accelerates differently when in 4Lo because the gearing is very different than 2 or 4Hi. As stated 4Lo is for off-road use only.

4 low, off road. Had it in 4 low all day on dirt trails.

Take it out of 4 Lo unless you need the extra gearing for rock crawling, use 4A for dirt trails that way the system can engage when needed. Most dirt trails can get by with just 2wd.

Good point. Didn’t think about that. I think last time I was there, I was in 4 high for most trails.

I was just in Death Valley and had the same thing happen! Just 4low and it throttled by itself without trail control on. I forget the specifics but I became one with it and knew when it would happen and had foot covering brake to control it. Need to go play around with it again and mail down the exact instances when it occurs. I recall something about being in Manual mode and i up shift from 1-2 or downshift from 2-1… 2022 Badlands/SAS/ 2.7

Maybe it’s shifting out of low into high without indicating it due to excessive speed beyond parameters of low?
