What's up everyone?
I had my Bronco in 4A today as we just had a snowstorm (laughable). I put my Bronco into 4A and had binding on the smallest of turns (was not icy nor snowy).
I had issues with it previously, but we really haven't had snow since I've got it.
I remember there's a TSB for the 22's having issues with 4A binding. I literally made it up my driveway easier in 2H than with 4A.
If anyone knows the TSB for this, I will very much appreciate.

Yes, I searched. Apparently I'm not great at it.

Thank you.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any TSB for 4A binding or anything like that

Really? I could have sworn there was one for it. Maybe a transfer case issue?

I just looked through all the ssm/tsb’s, I could’ve missed it, but I didn’t see anything

Ugh. That sucks. I know there shouldn't be binding in 4A. My old Explorer had it and I had zero issues.

I just got back from Death Valley a week ago and noticed a squeaking noise while driving in 4A. Switched it to 2H and the issue disappeared, had the oil changed and found stains on the front diff due to linkage. I took it to the dealer and they were able to duplicate the issue and will be checking it out in two weeks. I was using Baja Mode on the dirt road and did some rock crawling but never had any issues so let's see happens.

Good to know. I was having the bucking/binding leaving a non-slippery parking lot without the steering wheel being at max. This shouldn't happen.
I'm sure the dealership will tell me it's normal though.

Yeah more than a few have had this problem. I think most have had the whole transfer case replaced and it fixed the issue.

Thanks, Duc. I'll let the dealership know. They probably will tell me user error, I'm sure.

That's not normal, I never had any binding in 4A since day one which is my preferred driving mode. This is the first time that I really ever used Baja Mode and if the dealer tells you it's normal go to another one.

I just put it in Sport mode, 4A, tonight and it felt like it had binding or something at times... a little bucking from the Bronco. I switched it to 2H.

I just drove to work today in 4A and all dry roads (ice on highway ramps). No binding or other drivability issues, so yep you have an issue for the dealer to look into.

Seems like people that leave their Broncos in 4A all of the time rarely have issues while people that keep it in 2H primarily may see these binding issues when placing it in 4A.

I am watching this thread to track the findings and fix. I currently have a Bronco that does not have the option of 4A and I am considering buying a new (used) Bronco with 4A because I like the Intelligent All Wheel Drive on our Bronco Sport Outer Banks. I have had our Bronco Sport on some bad winter conditions and that all-wheel drive is solid. I also own a Yukon and GM seems to have managed around any binding issues in AWD or 4H. My Bronco OBX in 4H does not like to have the slightest turn in the wheels on drive pavement. So is 4A worth it for a Big Bronco? How can I add 4A option in the least costly way - which trim, package? In an OBX, 4A costs like $6K because you have to add a bunch of other options. Thank you for any insights that you care to share.

The Sport has a really nice AWD system that is almost entirely automatic and asymmetrical - it can shift from FWD to RWD and anything in between with very good per-wheel control.

4A on the full sized isn’t identical. It shares the fact that you can “set it and forget it” for four wheel traction, but the full sized is always primarily RWD and it only has very crude per-wheel control with a very noisy ABS system if you get it all the way to the point of engaging the ABS traction control.

The Sports system is much more sophisticated and well suited to hazardous on-road conditions. The Full Sized is much stronger and can put more power to a given set of wheels but lacks a lot of that flexibility
