Use it is an opportunity to get the fact that they will sell you the vehicle a no more than MSRP in writing.

$100 at reservation + $400 at order. $500 total seems to be the most common...

I also put down $500. At time of sale they gave me the option of a refund or applying it to the purchase.

Anybody else being asked to pay $500.00 to order a 2022 Bronco? I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, and was told it'll be a $500.00 deposit, although Ford still says $100.00?!
$500 is pretty standard. Its $100 to reserve through Ford, but the dealers want a little more skin in the game. If you have a dealer that knows you, you might get away without that deposit like some of us, but most of the time it there

If you put down a $500 deposit make sure you negotiate your final sales price ie MSRP no ADM, no additional dealer installed equipment your not interested in and have it put in the purchase agreement signed by the salesperson when you put down the $500 deposit.

Putting down a deposit with the dealership when you place your order isn't a bad thing it. Just be sure to read the agreement to make sure there aren't any other cancelation penalties other than loosing your $500 deposit if for some reason you have to back out of the purchase.

I paid $500 to order a week ago. I have a copy of the order form signed. Dealer said they would contact me when there is a VIN number assigned to it. Is this everyone else's experience who has done walk in orders lately? I shouldn't be expecting an email from Ford or anything yet?

same. for my most recent walk in it was $500, thats just the dealerships policy on any vehicle order. The $100 was only for online reservations when they first opened up.
Mine as well, on top of the $100 reservation deposit. In fact, I like it because it provides evidence that this is an "order" at an agreed price by a customer and makes it difficult for a dealer to try to add ADM later if not disclosed at time of order. I'm not overly worried about my dealer trying this, but that's the way I look at it..that I locked in because of the deposit and that we have 'deal" already in place (I also have a signed order sheet as well). To be honest, I am not even sure if my deposit is "refundable" or not, but again, I am fine if its not, because that adds further support for the idea that the deal is already struck at an agreed price (MSRP plus destination, tax, and dealer doc fee)

I had to put down $1,000 for my order. If I decide to cancel, or for whatever reason cannot pick up the car, I will be able to get my money back. If it all works out, that $1,000 will go towards my down payment on my Bronco!

When your dealer asks for the additional deposit, that's your opportunity to get the final cost in writing. That's exactly when you lock in your deal, IN WRITING.

So, while $500 is a deposit, with a signed purchase agreement, you also have an enforceable contract.
Exactly, but I don't think you necessarily need a signed purchase contract if there is other evidence that the price was agreed (its ideal, but not necessary).

Granger the least shady dealer I've ever dealt with asked for $500 once my bronc was selected for production. It's normal
