I'm hunting for a roof rack mounted awning that goes on the back of the rack instead of on the side.

All the awnings I can find are too long and designed for side rack mount. When I'm camping fishing or hunting I hang out around the tailgate and want something that will provide sun and rain cover off the back of my vehicle.

Anyone got any leads on a product like that?

Please and thank you.

ROAM has an awning that is what you are looking for.

That's a nice solution. Thank you.

I'm envisioning one that is cantilevered or self supporting that does not require the post poles.

If I find nothing else this will work. Much obliged. Thanks for taking the time!

"Sureshade" makes what you are looking for however the application is for Boston Whaler boats. They come in power and mechanical. Unfortunately they are far too expensive for a Bronco application. I'm not even sure you could make it work!

I am only mentioning this as a brainstorming idea - maybe it is worth a search into other areas like boating or RVs? Or a custom built one using the telescopic idea?

Good luck and please let us know if you have any success.

Geez... 2k for one of those puppies!

We are getting closer but still not it. As you suggested, i will expand the criteria to nautical applications and see what surfaces.

Thank you for the response. The hunt continues!

FWIW I have one of these on order. IT rolls up and stores on your rear crossbar, inside your top.
Jury is out on whether the juice is worth the squeeze.
BUT:
I parked beside a Jeep with one at a benefit car show recently and loved it. I watched them set it up, and even got to share their shade a bit as we talked about offroading and features of the Bronc.

I’m on the search for a rear mounted awning option as well….and free standing if possible.

My search has led me to kammock
https://kammok.com/products/crosswing-instant-car-awning?variant=40185019596854

They make 2 versions a 5’ wide and 7’ wide.

while the 5’ is slightly wider than the top/roof rack, I think it might do the trick.

Not cheap but cool features.

I’m joining this thread. I’ve been hauling around a ARB Touring and am kinda over it. It’s too much for every day/weekend use. I’m gonna hold onto it for longer trips, but I’m looking to simplify next year.

I might spring for one of these. But, I have a feeling setup is much longer than I’m looking to invest in on a regular basis.

A good ol’ blue tarp will mount wherever you need it and never let you down. Just need a couple poles and you’re setup!
