First was subs and amp and finally rounded out the system with all new speakers. The devils in the details. Things kicked off with a Fox Box ported dual 10in enclosure stuffed with A pair of Rockford P3D4 10in subs. And a Rockford R2.1200x1 amp. To control it all an AudioControl D-4.800 DSP amp. Stage 2 was a set of Rockford T1650 6.5 in coax nestled in Metra rear pods a bit of massaging of the grills to make the fit. For the front sound stage a pair of Rockford R165s components for the front kick panels and a set of R14x2 4in dash speakers.

Nice set up but why replace woofers with coax in pods with a DSP amp? Not harsh?

The factory pods house 4in speakers. The new pods hold a much healthier 6.5-6.75 in mid bass speaker. The DSP flattens the stock EQ and converts its signal to a full range instead of highs only. So now there is some proper mid bass to compliment the subs.

What's the tune on the pods?

How do you feel about what the Fox Box ported enclosure did to the rear space?

Acquaintance in our group added similar one to his Jeep. Wired it as a quick disconnect so he can take it out when he off-roads. He loves the bass amplification when it is in and the rear is clear, but it eats up a big space.

I know it is a preferences trade off.
The Bronco bass delivery vs mounting option vs cargo space in the Bronco is discouraging.

1st post here. Picked up 2026 Bronco Big Bend last week. Checked out Crutchfield and they recommended the SSV pods, Amazon has Mabett, and this is the first I read about Metra pods. Any reason why you chose Metra? Nice work by the way!

Hertz MPBX300S2 tailgate mounted is hardly noticable space loss but the bass and front staging is amazing.

Amazon has Mabett, and this is the first I read about Metra pods.
I bought the Mabett ones a while back, and strongly recommend going in a different direction.

They had some foam on the front panel to help keep them from rattling, but it will almost certainly interfere with your woofer suspension. It physically damaged one speaker, and I chased poor sound for a long time before I realized what was going on.

I don't know if the Metra ones have the same thing or not, they look ~very~ similar, but looking at the way the front panel is constructed (nearly all open grill mesh) I think it may avoid the problem. I am about to trash my Mabett ones and use some SSV ones to replace them - the SSVs don't have a front cover at all - you have to provide your own speaker grills, so that problem is eliminated.

I’m looking to downgrade to an analog AM radio and crank windows 😂

I’d happily trade sync and the touchscreen out for a standard DIN mount 8-track with AM
