I took advantage of black Friday sales on Amazon and Ford Accessories and picked up some mods, but don’t have my Bronco yet (or any idea when I will get). Nothing major, just floor/cargo mats, hood struts, door sill guards and trail armor. I figured Ford would have to make major changes to the MY23 vehicle for these items to be affected. I stayed away from anything electronic since I wouldn’t be able to install and test for issues.

But before I go any further, anyone see any downside to buying early?

As you did, I picked up a few items as they go on sale.
If I wait another 6 months (?) for when my Bronco finally arrives, there may be a better selection of products and maybe prices will come down due to more competition.
But I'm tired of waiting, so I have been buying now.

As long as your all set to go through with the purchase of your future Bronco, then no question, stock up. I did and I was in my garage for a week easily installing all the parts I stock piled. And never hurts to but things at a better price than normal, saves money in the long run... 🍻

Only downside to me is new products coming out monthly. Besides that it’s great to have a pile of projects on hand when she shows up!

Only downside is something new coming out that you like better than what you already have but your return deadline is expired.
Good point! Mud flaps that fit SAS with OEM tube step comes to mind.

I was afraid of a two year wait, or my dealer screwing me over (I would've walked and not came back to Ford).

I didn't buy squat in advance. Numerous reasons.

  • Deal may have fell through due to dealer markup or unforseen circumstances
  • Life happens and situations change within a year or more
  • Parts may be defective and not discovered until you try to install. Then there is no returning
  • Something better might come out
That's just me.

Only “downside” I can see is storing them somewhere

But in reality there’s also the “I didn’t buy it cuz dealer F’d me” posts. Then you’re stuck trying to unload mods someone else may not want. 🤷🏼‍♂️.

And with interest rates on the rise to the highest point in 15 years, financing may not be what was expected 2 years ago

Having to look at them and an empty spot in your garage.

I waited 2 years for my Bronco and finally got it this Summer. I had 2 tables of stuff (thou$ands) and even wheels and tires stacked in my garage waiting for it's arrival. I did my research and knew what I wanted. Everything fit and my build came together. I see no issue with getting mods early. You can buy stuff as you can afford it, buy stuff around those Holiday sales, etc. The only risk would be if something did not fit, you did not like the look, etc. Returns then would be difficult. Go for it....melt that VISA card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
