My question is this for those who have painted MIC tops and flares have you seen any issues with the paint as they weathered and aged, I know only been a couple months so far but would be interested in what your seeing

Not difficult or complex to paint, really.
The issue is wear and tear, ability to withstand debris.
I have the Sas package on my BL, and the rear flares are already eaten up with rock damage with only 6500 miles on them.
If you never plan on driving in gravel or off any pavement, sure!

My thought is to get a pair of Sas fenders that I leave factory black. Take off my factory fenders (big bend) and paint them body color. The ease of switching the fenders out makes it possible to have multiple sets. I'll put the larger sas fenders on for gravel days- and keep the painted fenders on for paved road driving.

Mud flaps are a good idea whether you pain them or not. The Sas tires in particular throw a lot of rocks. The stock flares are TPO (Thermoplastic olefin). Typically they use a 'mold release agent' on the surface of injection molded parts so that they don't stick to the metal of mold itself. This is a waxy substance that should be removed before priming the part. I have read good things about SEM's prep product. SEM Paints 38354 Plastic Prep, 1-Quart | JB Tools Also, there is a grain pattern on the surface. You may want to take some fine grit sand paper to smooth that down.
