6'10"

I think I hit it once in the last 15 months?
See, at 6’ 10” you’ve surely had to condition yourself to get in and out of vehicles in a different way than most people, so you already have the muscle memory to avoid hitting that knob. 😎

Yes, Ford design flaw. I just check the knob every time I exit the Bronc. Just added to the to-do-list after I park it, turn off the ignition, put in second gear, pull up the e-brake, etc. You get the picture. Some define me as anal, or whatever disorder term is currently used to describe this behavior by the medical community today. I define it as normal which use to mean responsible back in the day. God, we have another broken one or maybe it was a design flaw...anyways, can you try and do better please!

I've never done it, 2 door. 5"11. I could see how one could though.

Nothing to do with height or hitting the knob. There is a known issue with the lights. They will just turn on by themselves and then off after a few minutes. It will sometimes be on "on" instead of auto when you get out so it dings. But it will often just do it on its own.

EDIT: Apparently you can go get it fixed.

6'-4.5" never had an issue once? Lights stay on auto all the time. It is a set and forget in my vehicles.

Be that as it may, that is a separate issue. Hitting the knob with your knee is a real thing that many of us have (obviously) experienced…

Well yeah, but that isn't turning it on by itself with nobody in it. If the problem is really just hitting it with your knee, solution is don't hit it with your knee.

I am 6'2" and thought I was hitting it with my knee for months until I made sure not to do it and thought I was crazy until I found out about the knob issue.

I wish there was a way to leave the setting on off rather than auto. Auto tends to turn on and off depending on lighting which can dim the dash or change lighting

It's been a common complaint. Switch is in a stupidly low position.

I think its actually both. Just last night I had what you posted happen, I got out and there was a glitch like scenario where I know I didn't hit anything but the lights were ON. Other times I have 100% grazed the underside of the knob with the top of my knee.

Is there enough room to tuck a thin cowl like shield to the underside, maybe an aftermarket trim piece type deal?

It does happen but that’s why the headlight on alarm ding sounds as you exit the vehicle. The ding is a polite way of saying ”. Hey fool you left the headlights on”.
