Any recommendations on attaching recovery straps to factory tow hooks on the front number of a Wildtrak?

If you have them use soft shackles over hard shackles. If you only have hard shackles, after you tighten the rod bolt, back the thread off a half-turn. If you leave it tight, the force of the pull will lock the shackle. Make sure your recovery strap is clear of any objects before pulling and make sure no one is standing there watching. If you have a blanket or jacket place it in the center of the strap. If the strap breaks, the blanket/jacket will help it drop to the ground versus slingshoting back to the recovery vehicle.

Soft shackles whenever you can. American made ones too. Bubbarope and factor55 are good choices. guaranteed and helpful on the phone. Amazon and harbor freight are poor choices. Watch Ronnie Dahl videos on the subject

I went with the Rough Country Shackle Mounts: They were a pretty easy install and look great.

get one of these to use to tighten the screw on the tow hook, then leave it in your glovebox to use when you need to use your tow hook. Keeps any theives from taking your tow hooks. Also wrap some thin adhesive back felt around the screw as this will remove any rattling when not in use.

I also wrapped some duct tape around the eyelet of the spike to make it fit my hand better.

I have yet to see a poor review of the HF soft shackle.
