So I got the Bronco tinted as it's too hot here to drive around with nekkid windows.

Interesting problem - front window was tinted with UV blocking ceramic tint. That forces all of the screens to dim as if it were night time. Setting display to 100% brightness (both in software and with hardware buttons) doesn't fix the issue.

Is this something I'm going to have to FORSCAN to fix? Is that even a possibility?

I'll post better photos later for those looking at tinting options and do a walkthrough etc, but for now as I'm on the road, this is the only photo I have.

Is the sensor in the windshield in front of the mirror? If so could your tint guy clear that area up (sorry, ignorant on tint). The manual states that if your windshield is dirty auto dim may not work properly.

It's not tinted when you look at it, but blocks almost all of the UV light.. so in the context of the light, it is.

Is the light sensor by the camera? There is a weird little bump on the dash under the camera as well.

I have uv blocking tint on 2 vehicles’ windshields (f150 & a jeep) and no issues with the auto dimming.

is the tint applied from the outside? I always thought inside, but never really looked. If on the outside, ask them to cut a piece out the size of the black sensor 'box' behind the mirror, that hopefully should take care of that.

I'm thinking about just UV tinting as well, gonna wait to see how hot it actually gets inside in summer here, so would be good to know if that's an issue to prepare for. Also ask the tint shop, they should know if this might be a problem.

Attempting to replicate. May be a bug unrelated to tint. Ill experiment with shining a light into the camera module by the mirror and see if it dims.

The issue wasn't there on restart. Could be an issue of the system staying dim if started in a dark garage and I just noticed it after tinting.

I know mine was acting weird this morning in fog and dark, kept flicking between high/low and flashed up a forward camera blocked message and when a oncoming car came it freaked out with a collision avoidance active warning and headlights flashing high low.then after work completly normal. (btw i've replaced a lot of F150 forward cameras in the last 4 months)

The camera next to the mirror doesn’t dictate anything to the vehicle in regards to auto-dimming or illumination brightness.

The light sensor in the middle of the dash (the little hump) is what sends the signal (day or night) to the BCM to control system-wide illumination dimming levels.
That's what I was thinking it was.

Any update on this issue?
It just kind of stopped mattering.

I got used to it being a bit dimmer than before the tint was added. Now the screen protector I put on bothers me so much more than the random dimming of the screen. Ya just can't win sometimes. :ROFLMAO:
