Would cutting that bolt off some make it easier? You only need one thread showing past the end of the nut.
I guess? That would involve messing with the threads to ensure the nut would fit properly after. I'll just drop the exhaust soon

Instead of cutting the bolts, I went to Tractor Supply and spent $1.94 on 1/8" thick grade 8 washers to create a little space. Worked just fine.

Has anyone tried to put a regular trailer hitch or recovery shackle point in this receiver?
None of the 3 I have will line up if installed in the correct orientation.

I'd look at an extender? I've seen a couple on Amazon

@BAMF : with all these comments have you tweaked your design any to avoid plastic trimming and bolt install issues?
I'm not opposed to moving the exhaust pipe but trimming the plastic/metal is a non-starter. I like the price on your website and am ready to pull the trigger.
Thanks in advance!!!!

They have addressed a design issue in the Who is BAMF thread. They redesigned the hitch and maybe have started shipping the new ones out. I'm hoping to get my replacement hitch in this week. I'd guess that some plastic trimming may still be required depending on which bumper you have, as they are not all the same.

The only issue was the pin hole location being too far back. that's the only change that was made. you will still need to move the muffler to install there is no way around that.

If it means anything, I ordered after this pin issue. Thus, it wasn't an issue and has been corrected. Bamf makes a solid quality product I'm glad I bought from them. I'm waiting on my awe exhaust to put the other two bolts in.

#1 Thanks for the feedback !

So this pin hole relocation will eliminate any trimming? just need to clarify!
My primary use will be a cargo basket/rack.....so I'll be needing an extension.
I like the way the hitch hides under the bumper and does not impact departure angle much.

The trimming comment came from a customer trying to install it backwards. I haven't seen any trimming needed for the plastic bumpers.

Thanks it's shipping out tomorrow.

All the replacements are packed and going out tomorrow.

I was the one who ran into trimming issue because I was installing it backwards because of pin location.
BAMF shipped replacements for everyone involved free of charge. No trimming is needed and the receiver fits and works awesome.

Im jumping in a little late, but could you give a quick summary of what’s needed to install on a base with plastic rear bumper? No trimming, but something has to happen to the exhaust? Permanent relocation or just temporary unbolt hanger or something during the install?

edit: I think I see bamf explained just moving it during install 👍 heading to order one now
