Another question I have is: 70 or 75 aspect ratio? the 75s are almost 34 in while the 70s are almost 33s.
Different situation, but maybe not.
I have 34.5" tires on a Base with a manual.
The manual gets 4.46 gears.
Most who have taken a base Base to 35's on the stock 4.46 agree it becomes a little under geared. Stock on 30's , it was very over geared ... in my opinion.
Most agree that a 33" tire would be the sweet spot for the gearing .. on a 4.46 geared manual.

Another thing, my top gear is now absolutely unuseable, even at 80 MPH on the Interstate, it is just too tall, makes the 2.3 go heavily into boost and fuel mileage PLUMMETS !!!!
So I run 80MPh in 5th at roughly 2700rpm.

Last hi-way trip, not corrected for speedo error , was 17.6mpg ... which would improve when you factor in the odometer error. 14.79% according to one calculator

PSI when the TPMS sensor goes off?
The pressure warnings don’t go off til you’re down below 30 I think. They don’t come on when I’m at 31. Here’s the thing though, after I air back up, the warnings stay on until you get them back up to 35 or 36. Once they go off, you can go back down to 31 and they stay off.

I'm guessing it varies among trims, but I noticed the forscan setting on my BL was 36 psi. I'm going to lower it to 30.

That’s what you have to go up to to get the warning lights to go off, but once you get them to go off, you should be able to go back down to 31 without the warning lights coming back on.

I’d like to just disable the warnings altogether. As long as it still displays the tire pressure, why do you even need the warnings?

I run my new 35s at 32 though so going that high is just extra hassle.

I have a 7sp BD with 285/75R17 and am waiting for the to release 4.88+ gears. No difference in efficiency between 5th and 6th with the 34s. I feel like roughly 5.13:1 would give 6th gear an MPG purpose again.

MPG was dipping down to 13mpg on the highway in single digit temps over the winter. Tired of seeing boost or high rpms just to maintain speed on the highway.

I air back up to 32 after off roading. The tire will usually heat up enough on my way home to make the pressure warnings go away. They always shut off when the tire hits 35 or 36. Then when I get in the next day, the pressure is usually right at 31 when it’s still cold. I have 35x12.50 r17 E-rated tires btw.

I’m kind of surprised to read these posts about 6th gear being useless with taller tires on 4.46 manuals with 34.5” and 33.8” tires. Ford sells the manual Sasquatch with 4.70 gearing like my non SAS Badlands has, doesn’t seem like that extra .24 would make that much difference. I was driving mine around yesterday and found first gear to be basically useless, I almost wanted to start in second. I haven’t had mine on the highway yet but I’m comfortably in 5th gear by 50 mph and the truck seems to pull just fine if I give it throttle. I placed an order for Toyo 285/75 tires on Friday, but Discount Tire came back and said out of stock with no ETA, based on your posts maybe it was fortunate and I’ll just stick with 285/70. I was only looking to upsize for looks, I can do anything I need to do on 285/70.

The gear ratios from base, which is generally consider overgeared.

The gear ratios from badlands, which compared to SAS is well overgeared.

All very good suggestions guys, thank you! I'll try to stay as far away from E rated just cuz I'm not a big offroader, but still want that ability if it comes up on a trip. The KO2s are very popular, and the white lettering does look nice lol. 285/75r17 is hard to find right now due to all the lovely shortages we've been experiencing. 285/70r17 would give me a slightly bigger tire with a more aggressive look than the tiny 255/75 they put on there stock lol

You could also consider Maxxis RAZR AT. I have heard good things about them and may put them on my BD when it comes in. They come in 285/70/17 and are very affordable.

Yes on agreement with 6th being a useless gear for me as well. I would have loved 4.88s and will eventually go that direction when the front needs upgraded or repaired. 4.46 is just too high for my uses. I dont spend time over 80mph and I don't like to be in boost all the time. I prefer to be in the 2600-2800rpm range when cruising with no boost.

My TPMS alerts at 31psi. Not a big deal. It only alerted for a couple of days and then stopped.

PSI is a function of weight rating. E rated tires are great, but save the high PSI for one tons and heavy loads. Obviously, if you have a 4 door and carry 4 +size adults and gear, you will need more PSI than what I do in a 2 door with top off and rear seats removed. No need to run tires for gross weights over 10K lbs though.

The SL rated are light, the E rated are in line with other E rated in that size.

I have falcon wild peaks and they wear fast I have 25,00 miles and they look worn bad, , my old tires were KO2 and got 50,00 miles on them and they had a lot left,
My Wildpeaks went 50k. fairly quiet, great in snow, great on road and off. Highly recommended.
