Yeah, 25yrs ago, the KYBs that came on the isuzu Vehicross (1st OEM to use remote reservoir) were far superior to the junk ford gives us...My Vehicross had 300,000 miles on OEM shocks with zero issues.

Are you sure this problem is limited to the 21/22's? Have not seen anything about any improvement/change from Bilstein on the 23's and later.
No idea, that's just the ones we've been seeing. I assume mine will bite the dust soon enough.

I found my problem today, the top of the shock went right thru the frame.

Near as I can tell MB3Z-18A161-A BRACKET (18132) failed.

I guess that Ford will say the shock is "good", actually, I think the shock must have failed in a way that over extended it.... It makes no f'ing sense.

I don't think I've ever seen something like that happen without a jump being involved. Crazyness.

0 jumps. I have been all highway for the last 10k miles plus. I did get new tires, I bet Ford will blame it on the tires.

I'm dealing with this same issue right now, 27,000 miles currently and the reservoir rusted clean off the rear strut, and because it's missing my local dealer is saying the damage must be impact-related (I've had no collisions) and is refusing to warranty. Going to try taking it to another dealer to see if they offer a different answer, but it's pretty frustrating that they're worming their way out of covering a clear manufacturing defect.

@Ford Motor Company is there any way to contest a denied warranty claim for a defective part like this?

Open a ticket w/Ford Corporate and plead your case. That is your best bet until there is a SSM or TSB on this.

'21 2 Door Badsquatch 40,000 miles, no leaks, no missing reservoirs, pretty good for faulty shocks I'd say! lol

There was an issue with early production, Wildhorses had a video on it but all those dudes are extremely hard on their Broncos.
