Ford Bronco Black goopy rubber seal adhesive oozing from putting passenger side front roof panel back on IMG_3408

Was putting passenger front roof panel back on today and maybe I didn’t have it lined up perfectly, thought I did, but the panel was pushing down on the seal that’s attached to the A pillar and made some of the adhesive get exposed under the seal / rubber and it was super sticky and kinda oozing out goopy stuff. Not sure if I should fix or leave alone? What do y’all think?

Almost looks like that epoxy they use to install windshields.

If you’re concerned about it and nobody chimes in on here, I’d just swing by the dealership to inquire. It’s likely under warranty, if there’s an issue.

Looks like stuff we called Dum Dum in car audio, it’s a sealer we used occasionally around speakers. So it’s likely a sealer for that part of the Bronco to help keep water out. Could probably clean it up, just don’t remove it all and wear gloves cause it will get all over.

I had this stuff after getting a leak fixed. It's the sealant and that is part of the fix, use excessive amount.

Should be able to roll it into a ball and remove it.

I have that same stuff now all over the top of the windshield frame. It also pulled off some of foam seal.

Was any on the car paint, how did you remove it, trip to the dealership as a warranty repair?

Try a little bit of isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel. I do not know if it would work in this case but it is really good with drying up most adhesives and will not damage the paint.

It looks a little bit like asphalt binder, maybe that stuff that's supposed to clean tar off your car?

The spooge is butyl caulk, its good stuff as it never dries.

My passenger side looks JUST like the picture in the OP. I'm planning on bringing it in for warranty at some point, as the entire top seal appears to have been installed in a big rush. It's installed/seated properly in the body on the drivers side.. but as it continues over to the passengers side the rubber seal starts to become pretty 'proud' and bits of the sealer start to ooze out from underneath.

Also leaks right above the drivers map light, and drips into the shifter boot..

When I purchased the Bronco I was wondering why the dealership insisted on keeping a lowly big bend INSIDE for the 4 months they had it.. rather than the fancier trims they had on the lot...

Because it leaked! 😊

Londonderry ford in NH for those who might wonder lol
