Personally, I love my Base. Do the other trims have additional options that I'd like to have, of course they do. But for the additional cost of said options, that I probably wouldn't use anyway, the price point of the Base just made sense. The only thing that my Base doesn't have that I really wish it did is fog lights.
The fog lights are the thing I use the most. Use them all day, every day. Mainly to annoy people who bought the base model.

without a clear, long-term government push behind it, it will stall right where it is at.
That’s how markets work. How would you like to pay the government for someone else to drive a V12 polluter simply because the market wouldn’t support their desire?

Seems like the market has spoken. For the past twenty years. Now that there’s no government incentive, the language is clear.
The market? Due to tariffs and other restrictions we don't even have access to many low cost EVs.

There are two questions here.

One is the current situation and near future. As I said, I suspect the market for the Mach-e and Lightning might be saturated for now. However, you can't understand the EV market by looking at just two models! Ford's not the only player in town.

Overall sales of BEVs were down just a bit in 2025. However, federal incentives were in place most of the year, and in the third quarter there was a huge surge in purchases before the incentives ended. Then sales fell off a cliff in the fourth quarter because of the previous rush to buy pulled sales forward in time. So, it's not yet a true before-and-after comparison of the results of BEV subsidies ending. Let's see how 2026 and 2027 go.

The other question is the long term - 10, 20, 30 years from now. You laughed at my statement and that's fine. None of us really knows the future. Still, whatever is going on now doesn't tell what will be happening in the real long term. BEV tech will continue to improve, and fracked oil wells tend to run out a lot faster than others. The long term will a whole other ball game.
I've always felt that the broad EV change over would be a gradual shift, and not something that happens overnight, despite what analysts predicted.

The realities of a lack of widespread public charging, many people living in apartment buildings where home chargers aren't an option, pricing, charging times, etc., not to mention broad parts of the country being too far apart for current EV ranges, all don't line up for widespread adoption. I do think that the tech will get there for most applications, but on a longer timeline than was trying to be accomplished.

As you correctly point out, it's hard to look at 2025 EV sales to get a clear picture, as sales from all brands fell off a cliff after the incentives were ended. We won't get a fuller picture until a full year of no incentives, and then a look at Q4 2025 vs Q4 2026....

Oof that F series sales decline. Ford’s bread and butter because they get crushed by competition everywhere else except the Maverick. The stock will take a beating this year.

It didn’t help the Mach-e had a national stop sale but EV sales are tiny for Ford.
F-series has been affected by the fire at the aluminum plant, and production was way down for a couple of months. They're just starting to get that back closer to normal levels. Therefore, their inventory is also down vs. normal, affecting sales.

I’d agree, although I don’t think predictions were agreeing with the push to implement as quickly as they were trying. Musk made several comments EV wasn’t ready and would require at least 10-15 yrs to even begin to be a strong valid alternative. Manufacturers were regearing production focus solely due to Govt Policies being forced into market. They knew out the gate it wasn’t going to be widely accepted or profitable for them as Manufacturers.

Corrcect, the aluminum plant fire set them back, and forced them to make decisions on supported vehicles… the F150 Lightning was dropped suddenly due to aluminum inventory and preference to build SD’s.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think the government should "pick" winners or losers. I am all for capitalism and free markets. The only difference in this situation is that aside from the climate benefits (and yes, I know we are raping the environment to get rare earth minerals to make the batteries) there are governmental needs for batteries as well (e.g. drones).

The US will be in a bad position if China dominates the battery market. It will have negative impacts that ripple all over the place. It should be a strategic goal of the US to invest in batteries (not necessarily just EVs).

This won't be the best analogy but how long do you think it would have taken to integrate schools in the US if it weren't for the US government intervening. Hell, there are probably people on this forum who still think it was a bad idea, but I am not one of them, and I think it was a good and necessary thing to do. We may have eventually gotten there, but government made it happen faster.

We were on the way to electrification, and there are still tons of hurdles to get past even if the incentives stayed in place. We may still get there, but its gonna take a lot longer, and I am very concerned if China becomes the dominant world leader in this area.

I want a 6g Bronco with a 351 and a 4 spd with granny gear. Just a basic two door but with a bench seat in front so I can have fun times with my GF. Ford please bring back front bench seats or at least full width. F the console
Bench seat is a fine idea.

But where's she gonna put her hands without a gun rack????

What a difference a year makes. A little more than a year ago I bought my Bronco and it appeared that I was the only one on the road in my region. Today I went for a little joy ride and passed 4 of them! Only saving grace was that they were all 4 doors 😁

I walked my dogs around the block last night. Bronco drives past - I think 'cool Bronco". Then w/in 10 minutes three others do too.
Seeing there are three in my parking structure, including mine, they gotta be selling really well since I see them everywhere!

With the growing crowd of Bronco Owners... do we need a rubber mascot to pile 300 on the dash?
I do hope that doesn't become a 'Thang'... rubber duckies is just wrong.
