Had some time this afternoon to knockout a quick mod that’s been on the list. I originally planned on adding rock sliders or the Ford black plastic rocker/pick weld covers. But being honest with myself I won’t be off roading to the point that’d be needed…. I decided to try this budget option ($16). I plasti dipped the pinch weld, which visually cleans up the look down there and give the bronco (appearance wise) another inch of ground clearance. Took 2 hours total and turned out great! If I decide to add rock sliders etc later, this mid has compromised nothing in the way of doing that.

Why not just use under coating spray? Plasti Dip will chip real easy with rocks or road debris.

Either way, it looks much better than before.

Great point, this was none committal to me, if it works out great I can always remove it and go that route for sure.

Looks good. And if you get running boards, it will be great too because a lot of the boards I’ve seen don’t cover up the area as well.

A few months later, I am checking in to see how the dip has kept up. Do you still have it on there? Thinking about adding this to my weekend to-do list.

I imagine it will hold up pretty great - rubberized Plastipid works better than paint as far as chip protection goes in my experience as long as you put the recommended 4+ coats on or whatever it calls for. I've also had great long lasting results with Rust-Oleum Flexidip. I did go with the factory Ford rocker covers and I will say the fit and finish is very nice if you do happen to peel it off down the road.

There's no sanding or priming involved correct?
All one has to do is clean/wipe the pinch weld, mask it and get spraying?
