My Bronco is afraid of being close to large trucks.
I avoid them like the plague. Going on 3 years with no issues but I do drive with fear and respect.

Had my windshield replaced couple years ago, by Safelite. They said they had to use an OEM replacement, for programming and sensors. Once the glass was installed we had to drive around so he could do some programming.

What programming is there if the camera is static? I’m hearing from one place no programming was needed.

I'm not sure, I drove and he programmed. Maybe for the sensors?

Safelite replaced my windshield with OEM "Bronco glass" and not only transferred the original factory MAP decal from my old windshield, but they reapplied it perfectly level (the decal had a little lean to it when delivered 😆 )

I think Safelite can be hit or miss depending on the store and tech. I've read bad reviews in my area but my local shop did a great job.

I've had one windshield replaced in 3 years... by Safelite (OEM glass). The guy installed and calibrated the camera without issue... at my home.

However, I am paranoid of large trucks, and try to go into a line with at least one lane of separation between me and a truck. I also NEVER tailgate trucks. Try to stay behind them at least 100 yards.

But -- S**t does happen. Thats the fun of 6G Broncos, Wranglers, and old FJ40s.

Think of the windshield as a big lens. It can create distortions for the camera mounted right behind it even if you can’t perceive them with your eyes sitting further back. The variations between two windshields (old & new) due to manufacturing and installation can potentially be enough to cause an issue with cameras and ADAS (advanced driver-assistance system) accuracy. If you plan to claim the replacement on your insurance, calibration is likely required.

My Bronco is afraid of being close to large trucks.
Chips in my windshields have come from passenger cars because the roads easily crumble in my part of the country.
Up here, late February into mid April are the worst times of the year on the roads for stone throwing.

And yes, large trucks are to be feared because they're cable of throwing such large stones people have been injured.

And that’s why when I rode motos I always wore full face helmets. Open face helmets are really cute until you take a rock in the pie hole.

Yup, me too -- and not just to protect from stones, but also those nasty tasting June Bugs that were attracted to headlights on warm summer evenings.
