Ha! I did something similar with $20 flaps from autozone I attached to the crashbars with the factory bolts using aluminum angle bar and stainless self tappers. Works great at one eighth the price of other solutions.

Rekgen XLs on mine. Do I love the way they look? Not at all. Do they keep shit from dinging off my paint? Yes they do. I had to get all four for my OCD. No idea yet what I'm gonna do when I replace the back bumper.

Do you guys think some rocker rails designed to stick out a few inches (perhaps even with the stock flares), could also do the trick in terms of rock protection? (As long as the gap between the rail and flare is also taken care of.)

pave·ment (pāv′mənt)
noun

a. A hard smooth surface, especially of a public area or thoroughfare, that will bear travel.

spotter (ˈspɒtə)
noun

a. a person or thing that watches or observes

That is out of the dictionary does that help?

I don't like mudflaps either, but realized I needed something in the front to protect the doors/rockers from stones.
I did just the fronts only - Rekgen XL. I prefer the look of a rubber mudflap over a hard plastic.
They work well and really not that noticeable with the rock sliders.

The spacers you see at the crash bar mount is just PVC pipe cut to fit just inside the crashbars and are painted black. The self tappers are stainless. It does not interfere with factory crash bars or the side steps I subsequently mounted

I used some universals and fabbed some mounts on the front. After taking the fixed running boards off I had to put longer front ones on.

PPF is your friend. I like the gator backs, but was way too much. I mean way too much. Did PPF and happy. Yes mud still fly's up but come right off :) No scratches or dents.

The 37's I run gets after it, but so far so good. The Rock-Slides also helps.

I put the mabbets on the front of my BadSquatch 2 door and I am pleased with how they look and function blend well with the sas fender flairs and the oem rock rails

I got the fronts on ok, but how in the heck do you remove the tow hook bolts? An impact drill is starting to strip the bolt and they ain't moving.
