Ford Bronco DD Chase/Reverse/Brake Light Options e46163cb-522e-479e-9e09-908cbc5f8ccd-jpeg-

@4x4TruckLEDs.com

So I believe I have this kit from you from way back (I got it for the Christmas before I even got the Bronco).

Currently I have the amber covers. The lights works as such, red running lights, white (amber with covers) backup lights and white (amber with covers) chase lights (Aux Switch 6).

Here's what I would like to do, can you provide some feedback?

I saw the new DD lights.

Here's what I think I want to do:

Take the existing DD lights and move to the A pillars (I just have some cheap lights there now).

What I want on the back is a light that does red running lights, white backup lights and amber chase lights (Aux Switch 6) PLUS red brake light.

Is that even possible with the new DD Stage lights?

If not is it possible to do that with any light?

Sooo no, not really.

The new bars come with either an Amber DRL OR a Multi-Color DRL.

So you could set the DRL to RED if you wanted OR amber if you wanted. But not both, quickly anyway.

Also the back-lighting is not a chase light... amber back lighting is just that, back lighting. A real chase light would be an orange/amber/yellow light that shoots down range.

You've basically already got it setup as it needs to be. Just add the yellow covers when you need a chase light, done, and you already have it.

I would not leave the yellow covers on normally, unelss you like that look.

Baja Designs and KC make chase lights that have various functions, as they are dedicated CHASE ilghts.

But you can see how my request, while outlandish, isn't unreasonable? Or maybe it's outlandish AND unreasonable!

Why would you not leave the covers on? With them on they provide ample amber backup light. And the red running lights are red enough.

Can I add brake light functionality with the existing lights or do I need new lights for that?

KIND OF. So we actually offer the Diode Dynamics kit with the C1R lights (Diode Does not offer this kit). So the wiring is there, but your SSC2 do not support this. You'd have to swap the SSC2 out for the SSC1R that we stock. Then when you step on the brake the red back-light will get brighter.

And yes, I see what you're trying to do but the lights from Diode Dynamics don't support this. They don't have a dual-color light. Their outputs are either WHITE or YELLOW but not both. And as I said, the amber back-lighting is not sufficient for "chase lighting" so to speak.

I'd honestly just go with the C1R. If you like the yellow output we can swap out the clear lens for a yellow lens prior to shipping it to you. Im not 100% sure what the red back-light will look like through the yellow lens though.

Turn has a kit coming to market. It’s a housing that bolts in behind the spare tire to where the 3rd brake light is, replacing that. This is ideal for swapping your spare as there are no brackets in the way.
The housing will hold S2 pod style lights and in the mockup I saw on Turn Offroad’s vehicle, it had a brake light wired to the factory wiring along with nice bright Amber Chase lights controlled by a switch. I’m not sure on the reverse lights though. I’d have to comb through my pics and find it again. I was very impressed and the housing looked fantastic.

Found a pic in the catalog. It’s not on their website yet. Looks like it may have reverse light function? Maybe @TURN Todd can shed light? I’m getting one for sure i think.

So yes we are in production of this rear light set up. It is a forged housing with a billet face. It has 2 dust lights with a clear light which can be wired anyway you see fit. The 4 small round led lights are the 3rd brake lights. We should have them ready to start shipping mid January. Pricing TBA. We are thinking about putting them on the site to do a pre sale in mid December. I will keep you guys posted.

Nice. It's pretty big. Would it even fit inside the spare? I'd design my own mount if I had to.

Here are some better pictures of the new chase light.

The housing is just comically large.

This is just a quick Photoshop of what it could be. I guess with the 37s it was just "screw it, we'll take up the whole back window!"

But I don't even want a multifunction light up there, it's way more elegant in the spare. And way more visible.

Sounds like you could wire up something like a feniex q series, it's got 5 colors and flash patterns if you're feeling fancy.
