Yeah we need to know what it is.

If it's ceramic coating... then that's a decent-ish price. If it's PPF that covers the painted surfaces, that's an awesome price.

If it's just some spray wax that'll last 2-3 months (if I'm being generous)... nah, pass.

My shitty dealer had an $1,100 add on for something worded similarly when I went to get mine. It was literally just an off brand waxing. I declined the charge as it was not on my purchase agreement and they fought me on it briefly but in the end I didn't pay it. I told them straight up the dealership would survive losing that $6.78 in materials... if they even actually did it.

But without knowing what it is, it sure sounds like a scam and don't pay it.

Even if it's a ceramic coat I doubt they'd do it right 🤣. I'd probably skip regardless of what the package includes.

I would skip. I just bought my own supplies from either Chemical Guys or Adams and would wax myself. Looked great afterwards.

A friend of mine let me borrow his kit for ceramic coating for my past Camaro and did it myself. Was pretty easy.

Totally useless. It's just extra profit for the dealer.

Paint protection and interior protection are nothing but huge profit centers for the dealers. They will likely make more profit on these "packages" then on the vehicle itself.

Most dealers have trouble changing the oil correctly, let alone properly adding paint protection. Hard pass.

it has been my experience that dealers are in the business for profit way more than customer satisfaction. if you think they are doing you a favor.....think again. what ever this carefree paint is you can bet it cost them less than half to get it done. The fact that they are calling it care free paint instead of Film-wax-etc says a lot.

Mine had a $1299 "protection package" that supposedly included paint protection, windshield protection, glass etching, and cat etching. I told them to take it off. But it's already on the vehicle. They somewhat reluctantly took off the charge. Whatever they put on the vehicle (likely nothing) is still there, it's just not registered for the "warranty."

If you have the option in your area get a real detailer to apply any coatings. Honestly I watched a bunch of videos and did my own SiO2 coating. A little tedious and makes you appreciate the work a pro does but I'm cheap. A $32 bottle, on sale, of good product has done 3 vehicles 3 times and touch ups on roof, trunk and hood. Still have half a bottle left. Baked on bird crap comes off easily 7-8 months after application. Basically you have options and a dealership is low on the who I trust for detail work scale.
