Disconnecting Battery for Speaker Install?

Perhaps I am dumb (good possibility I am lol) but do I need to disconnect the battery when installing new speakers? These will be going into the dash. The Crutchfield set by step says yes, but I wasn't sure.

I wouldn’t think so. Just keep the radio off until connections are good-to-go.

I didn’t, but I’m no example to follow . Best practice is to pull your negative. There are reports of people testing their speakers and accidentally shorting their terminals causing the head unit to disable the channel for a short period or even fry the HU…
