Hey guys looking into ditch lights and have been reading the forums seeing lots of cool options. I do a bunch of rural woods road driving where I live with deer and etc so ditch lights seem like a good investment. Couple questions for the hive. I see a bunch of people running dual 3” pods on each side or single 4” pods is there a big difference between the two setups? Also is there any reason people don’t run huge lights like the LP6s or etc on the pillars? Also open to any recommendations or setups y’all are rocking, I do have aux switch’s. Thanks!

Stumbled across these on Amazon KC just looks awesome. Classic style and flows with the body

There was a thread on here a few months back about those on clearance sale (Amazon), except the mounting brackets were for an Wranger 4xe, they were about half price. Someone was planning on "taking a chance".

One thing I guarantee is that by the time this thread runs out of steam, every light known to man will be recommended at least once.

Whatever you choose, get into the rabbit hole of comparing specs, read reviews from actual owners and get advice from vendors. Then listen to your gut and wallet.

Things to consider...interchangeable lenses so you can vary the beam pattern. Some lights have this ability. It's easier (and cheaper) on some than others.

Do you want back lighting for daytime running lights? If so, what color?

Do they include a high quality wiring harness?

Availability of the lights themselves. Are they always out of stock everywhere? If so, if something goes wrong and you need a replacement, you may not be able to get it quickly.

Other accessories for the lights, like clear or colored covers.

Really read the warranty. They're not all created equal.

Mounts. There are more than a few choices and most are stamped steel that are powder coated then the price is jacked up 200%. Johnny Mo already posted the Bad Ass mounts which are almost as expensive as lights themselves and I run those as well. High degree of aiming flexibility if needed.

Security hardware. If you park "in town" with those damn urban hoodlums all the time, invest in some security hardware so it's at least difficult to get the lights off for anyone without the proper tools.

My setup, Diode Dynamics SS3 Max on Bad Ass mounts which pretty much violated all my advice above to some extent. But great lights, super bright and they're quiet. I don't hear any additional wind noise. I run an amber cover on them which diminishes their back lighting brightness during the day but they also don't get beat up on the daily commute. If you look at them lit up, dead on without covers during high noon, they'll burn a hole in your retina.

Which ones do you recommend? Were you using the 4” ones?

These are what I'm running, using their harness as well. Didn't bother spending the money on anyones brackets either since Ford made the mirrors 'accessory ready'.

I personally have never liked the look of dual kits.

Check out our site. We offer complete kits AND we only sell quality lighting. No junk here!

Baja Designs makes the best quality lights money can buy while Diode Dynamics is an American Made product and you get a lot of light for your money. Still a quality light as well.

https://www.4x4truckleds.com/vehicle-specific/ford-bronco/2021-bronco/other-lights-accessories/

The first few listings on our site are of a-pillar (ditch) light kits.

Avoid cheap brands on ebay, harbor freight & amazon. You honestly get what you paid for. If it's not a well known brand it's probably a re-branded overseas light that'll rust/get water in it. The best brands to go with are the ones we list on our site, because we want to ensure our customers buy something that will LAST.

Baja Designs
Diode Dynamics
Rigid Industries
KC HiLITES

All are top brands in the market and are at the top of the game (for good reason).

my arb rep keeps trying to get me to sell them (arb owns nacho) but I’ve not looked into them - supposed to be a good light but odd lookong

in just can’t sell every light that hits the market so we stick with the well known quality brands

I found these looking for plow lights, they work fantastically for lighting up everything as fast as my 6.7 CCSB will go.

I bought these in 2020 and they are still rocking bright AF. Lifetime warranty, $100 A PAIR.

Obviously you CAN'T run these with oncomming traffic - mine are pointed so basically 10% of the light hits the road, the truck lights do the rest. There are 50W each, they are rowdy bright and the light punches far - tough to overdrive.

I bought these because I ran into some ditch rats in my pickup was brand new - I was pissed. Couldn't see them right off the side of the raod. Not anymore - these turn the night into daylight.

I put some, what I thought were nice, Rigid lights on my Bronco and they are total BS compared to these, they do have an orange backlight though. If you want to see the deer and everything else the goes bump in the light, you can't lose with these.

I talked to one of their designers and looked at their lights at Overland Expo West. I was impressed. They are one of the few manufacturers that give a candela rating.

They are coming out with a rock/rack light I'll probably buy. They're still in development and putting a lot of thought into it.

Also they're local for me, which is always a plus. They are owned by ARB. But from their website.

"Designed, Engineered, and Assembled in the USA

NACHO engineers, tests, builds, packages, and ships everything out of our Mesa, AZ location."

I had @4x4TruckLEDs.com install a light package for me before our Moab trip last year. Adam is a wealth of info. That said, I have Baja Designs ditch lights, Sqadron Pro. They are fantastic and throw a lot of light. As for your question about LP6s, it’s up to you. You have to decide what your lighting needs are. For me, for wheeling at night, I use a combination of Amber and clear lights that light up a few zones in front of me. Even if you don’t buy BD lights, go on their site and check out their info on lighting zones and different lights. I went with BD because they’re widely used on the race circuit and they have great customer service, by all accounts, haven’t needed it. But research, the web and YouTube are going to be your friends on this. Good luck!
