It always shocks me, and I’m not sure why at this point, how little sales people know about their products or those of their competitors.

...were the first words out of my salesman's mouth...after I took delivery of my 2DR/WT/SAS (2.7L) last week.
Can anyone tell me why?
Struck me as V E R Y odd.

Thanks!
With out having an owners manual in front of me my initial answer would be is because he's an idiot. Read your owners manual. Since the 2.7 is a twin turbo I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it recommends you run 91 octane or higher ( at least if you want to get the best performance out of the engine).

youre right...given his response, in addition to that, I confronted him with a question during the transaction and he stormed away like a child. then comes in the Sales Manager to try to 'soothe my wound.' Spoke to me like a child. After his salesman (that stormed off) returned, his 'walkthru' of the vehicle was showing me how to turn on the ignition and the blinker functionality. I told him that I wanted to take the time to inspect it (with the Bronco6G checklist) and he rolled his eyes and told me that he would wait inside.
I then found a ding in my top after I had driven .2 miles to the PPF shop. I called him. "Well, you drove it off the lot.." he says. A chuckle followed; and proceeded to act genuine....

To TOP IT ALL OFF, left with the temp tags...got the hard plates 3 days later from the dealer. All 4 numbers on the plate were "6666!!!!" Yes, you saw that correctly....6666
TOTAL SHOW!!

How did your gas mileage do when you changed to 93? I'm in same boat, a little over 1k miles with top tier 87 but thinking of just using 93
18.3 mpg with 4k miles on the clock. I feel like it improved slightly. Now, It could have improved a little as the engine gets broken in.

Car Salesman are the most clueless people about the product they are selling in the universe.
I went to look at Honda civics the other day to have a little economical gas saver until my bronco comes in and the salesman is goin on and on about this trim has a sun roof and power seats… we walk over and there’s no sun roof and it’s a manual seat. Just kind of funny they are selling these expensive items and don’t know anything about them. I can watch a YouTube review and learn more in 8 minutes than the salesman knows.

I used 93 for the first 2000 miles on my 4Dr 2.7L Sasquatch and got 17 mpg. I used cheap regular fhe next 2000 miles and got 17 mpg. I was quite surprised to not see any difference in mileage. I only buy the cheap stuff now. I think the salesman was trying to save you $$.
I wish I knew how you average 17 mpg. I'm almost at 3k miles and have tried 87, 91, and 93. I've been averaging at best 13-15 mpg and thats sometimes with a light foot! I even did a road trip from Houston to San Antonio doing 80 mph on the highway getting 13.1 mpg.

I'm getting my first oil change at 3k....I know a little dated I usually wait till 7-10k but just doing it this once. Hopefully it helps my mpg.

So you are saying that the designers and manufacturer of the engine know more than "the dealer".... Get out of here with those ridiculous facts!! :ROFLMAO:
Same guys that designed the valves for the 2.7 and the MIC tops, LOL.

3.75%, but point taken
I've seen the difference in torque/ HP numbers discussed "on the internet" but the owners manual is silent on the actual numbers.

Any idea where the official numbers come from?

Your vehicle operates on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87. Some fuel stations, particularly those in high altitude areas, offer fuels posted as regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating below 87. The use of these fuels could result in engine damage that will not be covered by the vehicle Warranty. For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer (page 283).

“DO NOT LISTEN TO CAR SALESMAN” is the best advice one can give.

I got the 1% off the Ford tech sheet, where are you finding 3.75%
Torque 415* (410 regular fuel)
2021 Ford Bronco Full Tech Specs | Bronco6G - 2021+ Ford Bronco & Bronco Raptor Forum, News, Blog & Owners Community
You’re right. The 2022 spec sheet lists regular as 315/410. An older CNET [article](https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2021-ford-bronco-power-hp-fuel/) listed 300/400. Does look like the increase is even more minor than originally published; 15 and 5 rather than 30 and 15.

Maybe it’s time to start migrating back towards 87 for me! Wonder how much (if at all) it will impact my 18.7 lifetime mpg…
