Door Panel & Center console plastic delete?

I secured my Wildtrak yesterday . The dealer does mods including katzkin interior. I like the factory seats with the embossed bronco on the seat so would like to keep them but hoping to plastic delete as much as possible to elevate my “pavement princess”. I’ve been searching for someone who fully wrapped the interior door panel and the center console but have only found a few who successfully wrapped the dash and the handle/arm piece on the door panel along with the arm rest. Does anyone have a fully wrapped door panels or center console?

Does anyone have recs for any other pieces I can replace in the interior that are not made of plastic or carbon fiber? For example a real metal trim piece for the steering wheel would be awesome- instead of the plastic metallic painted piece. Or real metal door handles etc. would love to hear your suggestions or see pics of your “elevated” interior modifications.

Congratulations on your WT. You might want to look for an auto upholstery shop in your area and not your dealer. The dealer is likely only experienced with seat covers. But with an appropriate budget, an independent shop that specializes in auto upholstery can make your dreams come true.

When it comes to the steering wheel, I would rethink your idea of metal near the airbag. * Claymore! *

Thanks, I’m very excited! They have an auto upholstery specialists that comes in- they don’t do the work themselves so will hear them out this week. Was curious in the meantime to see if anyone has done this and if someone had pics. I did find a thread on full size bronco where someone had an 85 xlt with plastic on the door panels that was detoriating and someone showed their custom upholstered door panel covering the old plastic and it looked great. So I think it should be possible

My audi has a metal piece on the steering wheel… I didn’t think there would be a safety issue to cover the plastic? I’ve seen carbon fiber replacements…

There was one guy that I can't remember his handle that upholstered his interior. He had the experience and the tools to do it himself. I did find a few examples of others that have had work done to their interior that pertains to your plans.

@Bad_Bronco had his IP upholstered in leather.

I think the best example is @Tye who had their interior redone with soft-touch surfaces. Rogelios (Rogelios Auto Upholstery) was used. They will do the work if you send them the parts.

Rogelios looks awesome just checked out their Instagram and will explore after I hear out the upholstery guy this week if he can’t do the dash— I’ve seen the dash done on other threats along with the handles on the doors in a few other posts but looking for that black plastic piece to get covered behind it— so it may be a task to explore with someone like Rogelios if the upholster I speak with this week has doubts. This is what I did in mine. I covered the upper door panel insert and the armrest to match. It seems though that you’re looking to have the entire door panel wrapped. It’s not impossible, but would be very difficult/time consuming, and thus expensive to have it done right.

There was one at SEMA a couple years ago that pretty well had all the interior plastics wrapped in leather. Not sure why I didn’t take any photos of it.

Beautiful!! You are correct, I’m looking to have the entire panel done. I dove deep into the Rogelios Instagram and see that they upholstered the plastic piece of this ev and showed the before (plastic) and after and explained the work involved to do it: so I sent them a message. We have a lot of talent locally but nothing like the west coast has!

ADV posted this on their instagram a while back since their fenders were used, but the main build was done by black bridge motors. Not sure how much it costs, but it looks expensive (interior pictures starte from the third image/slide).

They didn't do the door panels but they did pretty much all the other interior plastics, so might be useful to look into.

I wanted to do something crazier with my door panels and have them fully rebuilt but havent found anyone yet, and it would take a lot of work so may just pass on it. I wanted the perimeter to be redone in metal that could be painted the vehicle color, and then the inners to be a fabric, and then have a more industrial look using the same bronco bolts but extending the pocket trim all the way across the door. here is a mockup i did

Jason, you might have been the one that I couldn't remember the handle in my earlier response to Elizabeth. If so, I apologize. But If I recall, you had prior experience and the tools (industrial sewing machine)?

I love your idea- the mockup looks great. If you ever do it please come back and post pics! It’s industrial modern but also retro which is the perfect combo for new broncos.

When Ford did away with the original baseball glove and black leather interior I reached out to a shop in Westchester that does work for dealerships also - Automotive Upholstery Co in Tuckahoe. I've known Ron since high school when his father had the custom carriage works and upholstery business. Wound up with a Raptor instead so I didn't go with it, but was definitely going to try and mimic that original media release look.
