Hello All,

I think I’m going to remove my doors for the first time. Is there a better way to store them?

Can I lay them down on a mat? If so, which side is best? I’m guessing non painted side.

Or should I try to stand them up?

Thank you.

I always store mine in the bags you can get from Ford. I know a lot of people cut a slit in pool noodles and store them upright sitting on the noodle to protect them.

it’s super easy to take the doors off, make windows are rolled down first. Then I have four or five towels in the garage. I take the doors off, stand them up leaning them on the wall or weight bench put the towel on the ground to cover the base of the door, then fold it up to cover the door and then do that with the remaining doors One after another. That’s how I do it. Works great.

If no one has advised this, I've heard several times to USE the door edge protectors in the tool bag per the Manual to avoid affecting the paint on the edge of the door and the Fender. It seems that anyone that has disregarded that hint, has regretted it.

Several people have built door storage out of PVC pipe and insulation/pool noodles. You could even put this on a furniture dolly and roll it around.

I haven’t removed my doors yet, but I would personally invest in the door bags. I also like the pool noodle idea, and if it’d fit in the door storage bag with this installed too, I think it’d add an extra level of protection.

Is there anything a pool noodle can’t be used for??!

I store mine right where the assembly workers attached them. No worries about dropping them, having phantom dash alarms, or reinstalling heartache. Yeah, I am a geezer that just doesn’t get the doors off thing. I would recommend removal and install be conducted over a nice lawn surface just in case there is an “ oops”. Have fun.

Whenever I see the wall mounted ones, I am always worried about them rubbing against the wall and getting scratches? Do you have this concern? Do you cover them when hanging them?
I still use my covers
I have tube doors also so the mounts have doors and covers on year round.

Yeah! I was going to say, pool noodles are the new duct tape.

So they have four door wall mounts? I have that for my Gladiator. Would be great for the Bronco too.
