Howdy, friends. This week I finished up installing the DV8 MTO winch bumper on my badsquatch, and I took several photos along the way that I'll share here. Relocation of the Adaptive Cruise Control module was shockingly successful. It did take quite a lot of work (3-4 hours on its own), but I'm very satisfied with the results. You can see the shiny bolts on the mounting bracket for the module through the grille (top right in the photos), but it's not unpleasant. Just different. As part of the install, I did remove the aluminum mesh parts of the bumper and painted them white to match other accents (bow shackles and Bronco lettering). I struggled greatly with the final step of securing the bumper mounting bolts. I'm very much a novice mechanic, and navigating the odd angles required to secure those bolts is intensely difficult. If anyone has tips along those lines, I'd accept them gratefully. I've actually got to get back out there today to finish tightening them. The winch is the Smittybilt X2O 10k Gen 3. There's an unsavory gap on the back of the control box where the two pieces of housing don't line up well or something. I decided to roll with it, apply a bunch of electrical tape, and hope for the best. If I get out there and the thing goes poof, I'll cross that bridge then and there. (Or perhaps I won't cross any bridges b/c I'll be stuck.)
In any case, I'm really happy with the results and look forward to getting comfortable with winching.
