So does this only affect the 2.3? I have the 2.7 (22 Wildtrak) and haven't seen this recall. I do use my block heater often (sub-zero temps often here). I let it run for 4 hours before my commute to work. Should I be concerned?
I think its 2.3 only but Im not a doctor

I have a 22 7MT. Brought it in for the engine block heater recall. The parts are not available, so they "disabled" the block heater until they figure it out. This repair is not rocket science. The block heaters are currently available on about all Ford vehicles. When it was working I appreciated that the oil temps were already in the 85-100 degree range when starting. Warm air was available immediately. As the heater heats the coolant directly, not the oil, I suspect the coolant was even warmer than the oil.

I don't understand. The simple way too "disable" the block heater is don't plug it in. They're all disabled until plugged into 120 VAC.

Apparently, it can start a fire, so Ford doesn't want anyone to mess with them at all.

Cutting off the plug is the only way to really disable it.

is there an aftermarket alternative for the faulty engine block heater that could be installed so that we could maintain our functionality? Preferably using the factory install location?

A new block heater will be supplied/installed by Ford under a future customer satisfaction program when parts are available.

I am approaching this as a hurry up and wait recall. Maybe in the summer dealers may have the parts and practiced on someone else before I call the dealer to fix mine.

I have a 23' Badland Sasquatch with the block heater. No recall for my VIN on NHTSA's website. Looks like not all affected model year Broncos are affected by this recall.
