Hello 6G. Looking to see if there are other cases out there such as ours.
We had a motive power failure after 115k flawless Miles
Ford dealer borescope discovered a hole in the engine block of our cylinder wall between cylinders 2 and 3.
Looking for any input or if anybody else has heard of, or experienced this. Thanks!

- Stock
- Non - Sass
- Stock Height
- 2.3 Ecoboost
- Automatic
- No Engine Mods
- No Performance Tune
- OEM Dealer Oil change every 3.5K miles
- OEM Dealer Transmission and Transfer Case fluids changed early at 75k Miles
Thanks 6G if anybody has any updates of has heard of this.

Unfortunately, you received a Friday before the holiday build.

Hope they make it right for you, sounds like a new engine in your future

Have not heard of this. We have people in our group with 125k+ on the clock.

Hopefully they are helpful. It is past the powertrain, it seems awful though. Tell them to give you a 7.3 with a computer and you will take care of the rest. I hope they help out. Hope this is not common!!

Sucks!!

Maybe time for built 2.0 Xmas gift to self...check mustang6g.

115 k miles is a reasonable lifespan must have been down on power anyway.

What kind of oil?

Maybe can find low mile mustang HPP engine at recyclers ...

In what world is 115K miles a 'reasonable lifespan?' I've got almost 200K on my two remaining Jags and a quarter million on the Miata...all on original engines.

115k is a reasonable lifespan for a clutch plate, a starter solenoid, or any number of components. An engine block ain’t on that list. I’d be furious.

I hope Ford works with you on this.

My Honda is approaching 300k original engine, if 115k is lifespan I will go back to the 98 CR-V and take it North of 400k.

Hopefully 115k comment was pure sarcasm.

agreed, 100 series LC's are happily ticking up on 600k plus with zero issues. 200k out of a modern engine that's maintained is perfectly reasonable to demand.

At 115K miles you are probably down 15-20 % on power due to cylinder and ring wear, especially if not using 100% synthetic or changing every 3000-5000 miles on 2.3 that's dumping raw fuel into the oil constantly unless have at least a dirty side catch can, and known to have block issues unless have the upgraded HPP block or new generation.

Coil packs, fuel system injectors, pumps etc etc usually tired as well along with complete suspension system and all chassis bushings and seals....start getting nickel and dimed to death on all chassis stuff ets...only matters if keep vehicles well maintained though VS fixing upon complete failure.

It's a Ford, not a Mazda or a Jag which are both far superior in build quality and relative price, eg. how much does a new 5000lb Jag SUV cost?

Look at it as opportunity to upgrade with built engine and overall renewal or get a new vehicle at deep discount this time of year:)

I have different maint perspective using 100% synthetic oil every 3,000 miles, other drive train every 20,000 miles, new dampers every 30,000 miles. New anything ball joints 40,000 miles and by 60,000 miles on the off chance I want to keep it past 60,000 miles and rive it hard when I want

Thanks. Solid perspective and don’t dispute. We used the hell out it for work and did do full synthetic at 3-5K and tranny transfer at 70k.
We appreciate the perspective as we fell in love driving it for work because it worked perfectly in the shitty places we have to go for work. Decision time.

Yeah a hole in the block isn’t from late oil changes — unless you dropped a valve or something else mechanical causes it that sounds like a flaw in the casting or extreme pre-detonation.
