There are these new inventions called garages that are even heated I heard.

A block heater does nothing to get the transmission or diff oils up to temp. A gas engine will fire up in pretty extreme weather. I've driven them above the actual Arctic Circle in Norway.

Garages are super cool and can be heated I hear but not everyone has access to garages. Norway sounds awesome, heated garages for everyone!

WTF.. 8 open recalls on my FE. Every time I take it to the dealer they are not ready/don't have parts/forgot why I made an appointment.

Engine Valve, Driveshaft, Camera, Fuel pump, Block Heater, shocks.

Its never left me stranded, but this is getting ridiculous.. I guess I should be thankful that I got most of the water leaks fixed early on.
The number of recalls I've had on my FE is almost comical. Of course the only one I care about is the fuel pump and there's still no fix for that...🤦‍♂️

Heating your engine oil before driving off in these modern TURBO motors is good thing. Its not good on the turbo to start up cold and just drive off. Engine block heaters help with that as well as the other ones mentioned.

Even if unheated the garage will keep the vehicle warmer then being outside.

They drove like maniacs on the ice covered roads along side the fjords.

Drinking and fucking were about all there was to do in winter. Local girls with a case of Mack'Ol would come out to our bivouac sites.

Now that is a valid point.

And my fuel tank is buried underneath my Next Venture Motorsports skids.

Q1 2026 kind of sucks...no block heater this winter. If I need to go to Manitoba this winter it will cross into the "really sucks" realm.
After three* winters of using the block heater daily, here in MB…. I’ll take my chances. If she’s burns, at least she’ll be pre-warmed for me

*edited for bad math

Good to hear they aren't just burning down left right and center. Ill probably use mine a few times this winter. I don't get great white north cold but single digits are common. Ive got the 2.3 as well with a recall notice.

Why does anyone that doesn't live above the arctic circle need a block heater on a gas engine?

A diesel like my F350 I can understand but on a gasser what's the point?
Apparently you’ve ever been to Iowa or Minnesota in the winter.

Did a block heater touch you inappropriately? Why such a fight against it?

Drawback of an internal combustion engine(regardless of fuel type gasoline, diesel, LPG, methane...) is that they operate at it's best at a certain temperature and that temperature is never what the ambient temperature is. Manufacturers have been designing and implementing ways and complex components to achieve a quicker operating temp for years. Yet you argue and bitch about probably the simplest one out of them all.

I got a notification that "remedy is available". Does anyone know the updated part number and if it's available at the counter for any Joe Shmoe to buy?

So does this only affect the 2.3? I have the 2.7 (22 Wildtrak) and haven't seen this recall. I do use my block heater often (sub-zero temps often here). I let it run for 4 hours before my commute to work. Should I be concerned?
