Maybe 3K miles if you're using conventional oil.Two weeks ago, I picked up my new Bronco Badlands with the 2.7L. I have purchased dozens of new cars/trucks, gas and diesel, in my lifetime. I treat the engine carefully for the first 250 miles, and then I drive it as normal. I've never had an engine that burned oil or had any other issues.
I picked up the Bronco in Denver and drove it to St. George, UT. As soon as I hit I-15, I was up to 80 mph, the speed limit, all the way to St. George. The Bronco ran like a champ, and not one drop of oil was burned.
I'll change the oil and filter at 1,500 miles, and then every 3,000 miles thereafter. Clean oil = long engine life.
Take the above information as you wish. I can only say it has worked well for me.
PS. Never trust the Ford manual when it comes to fluid changes, engine, transmission, and rearend/frontend.
I will use synthetic which is where the 10K figure comes from. I will change it early the first time, but will change around 6000 - 7000 after that.
I feel like they say 10K figuring you will need a new vehicle sooner.
