2.3 tuned will put out 320 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque total. Tons of fun to be had with a manual. I would rather have a manual with 2.3, than auto with 2.7, even though 2.7 would be more performance oriented.

No wrong answer here, but the misconception that the 2.3 is less-than is just not the case.

I started off deciding to get a #BaseSqutch but it's going to be so long before i get my Bronco I'm going to end up with either a Badlands or a Wildtrack.

based on initial results (very small) seems like everyone has abandoned manual because there is no squatch

I can see ford not understanding this at a corporate level and axing manual all together.
Giving the manual the boot may have been the goal from the beginning. Trust me corporate understands what they're doing.

The 2.7 being built with the turbo in mind during the design I think makes a difference.
I know there isn’t a ton of difference power wise between the 2 engines.
But why and how they were engineered I think makes a difference.

just my 2 cents that I’m sure don’t mean much.

If they let me put the mid on the BD manual I’d be seriously considering it but if I’m making this my daily driver, I don’t want to lose all of the creature comforts I love in my Challenger (though I will be sacrificing several to gain all the other awesome things my muscle car can never give me). As it is, my build is over 42k. Minus 2k off MSRP it’s within the realm of explainable to my logical side. Then I remember taxes and fees and any thoughts of getting extra frisky and throwing in the 2.7 go out the window. I test drove the ranger. I’ll be fine and happy as hell in my 2.3.

Had to do research, been decades since I had a non V8 (wife had a V6 Xterra) did my due diligence and the 2.7 seems to be as bullet proof as you can get in a turbo engine...

daily driver - deciding between base, BB, or BD

Must have:
- 4 door auto 2.7
- 32 or 33 inch tires
- auto start, keyless entry
- heated seats

Would like to have:
- advanced 4x4
- prefer mgv but not sure I need
- locking rear diff

BD in Canada prices out mid60s plus fees so I may be pushed down by budget to BB or Base.

Thoughts ??
