Went to O’Reilly’s Auto shop, gave them the paint code & got the cactus gray and a clear coat in a spray can. This is exactly what I want to do! Where did you find CG paint?

Thanks, but I don't have the time right now to make anything for sale. Maybe in the spring when things settle down. If, and when I do, I will post at that time......That looks incredible!!! Would you consider making these available for sale??
Oh no hurry. I don't expect to have mine until this time next year. But sign me up first on the list of you decide to. I'd also be interested in doing two layer scripts for the fenders. They would be a different size correct? Thanks, but I don't have the time right now to make anything for sale. Maybe in the spring when things settle down. Yes, the fender ones are the exact size Ford made originally. The one on the tailgate is smaller so it fits better. Will do....Oh no hurry. I don't expect to have mine until this time next year. No, the second photo is not mine, just for referenceLooks like you got it out. But, be sure to have the female holes in the chrome piece bezeled out enough for reassembling. Especially adding a few coats of paint.
Oh. You have to dremel the hell out of it from behind until they detach. Eventually the soldered plastic will give way.No, the second photo is not mine, just for reference
Too late, it broke.Oh. You have to dremel the hell out of it from behind until they detach. Eventually the soldered plastic will give way.
Shoot, sorry I didn't see your question until this morning. Yeah, the tabs were heat staked (melted) over from behind. I had to cut/grind/sand that off until I was able to push them out from the back with a small screw driver.Too late, it broke.
I don’t recall seeing that mentioned anywhere on here before
That is the game plan for now. Otherwise, I'll be buying a new emblem.Shoot, sorry I didn't see your question until this morning. Yeah, the tabs were heat staked (melted) over from behind. I had to cut/grind/sand that off until I was able to push them out from the back with a small screw driver.
You can probably put it back together broken and it won't be noticeable in assembly.
How do you recommend taking off the emblem? Do you just heat and pry off? What about the clips, would it be better to access the pins/clips from the other side of the gate? Or maybe that’s not possible. Just thought I may be able to access where people install the table on the gate. Or maybe I’m over thinking this…I wanted to completely remove the Ford emblem, however there is a recess in the tailgate and two holes under it so I decided to paint it to match instead. I thought I would share the process in case anyone else wanted to do something similar. There are two clips and some 3M adhesive holding the emblem on. Once you get it off you have to drill out the sonic welded posts to get the blue pieces separated from the chrome. Then just some light surface prep and you can spray with adhesion promoter, primer, paint, and clear coat. The Cyber orange is a tri-coat paint so there is an orange base coat, then a transparent top coat with all the yellow metal flake in it, followed by the gloss clear. I used some JB weld for plastic to secure every thing back together. Then installed with new 3M adhesive. As You can see in the photos I did break one clip taking it out so I just put 3M tape in that area as well. Turned out really nice and better than just covering the middle with a sticker since all the chrome is gone.
Last week I also removed the Bronco and used the adhesion promoter, primer, black paint, and clear coat on it. Then after a wet sand and polish I reinstalled it with new 3M adhesive as well.
