Double hit a fastener to get that reading of torque completion is the only way to bypass the poke yoke process.
we have steps to catch this(double hits) on our shop floor - I would hope Ford has steps as well

This was not a crack.

I noticed the same thing when we received the pictures from the technician. When I went to look at the vehicle on the lift, we were able to confirm that it was dirt and there was no crack present.

Thats a good catch though. The same thing had me concerned.
Are you sure there wasn't a Crack present? I'm glad you got that Crack business locked down. Rogue cracks can ruin your day! I had to lighten the mood of this posting.🤪🤪😆

Have they replace the mounts.

The shifting and flexing could have damaged them.

I too would hope the Process & systems are in place. That is a walk home not to mention a safety critical failure mode.

I believe they replaced one of the mounts due to it being damaged. I requested that both of them be replaced but could not get a straight answer if they would do that or not.

My guess is, when they lifted the motor up, they realized that the one that was supporting the weight of the engine needed to be replaced. The one that never had bolts in it likely did not get replaced as it was never under stress and was likely in good condition.

Being that Ford's stance has been to just lift the engine back up and bolt it back in, I seriously doubt they went above and beyond to inspect the vehicle thoroughly.

Funny how the “Feel Good Ford” poster never commented here. Thought for sure we’d have seen a “Thanks for sharing your misfortune” post.

I tried to request one. Ford's stance has been to hide behind the lemon law and because the vehicle has over 24,000 miles it does not qualify.

Their offer for their screw up, has been to offer up 900$ as compensation for the mistake.

I tried the customer service line, I tried the BBB auto line, I've tried talk to the Ford rep via the dealer doing the repair and I've tried working with the dealer that sold me the vehicle. At this point the only person that has been any help at all was the dealer that sold me the vehicle.

Ford has had zero accountability and no concern for the issue.

At this point I think the only path forward is to contact an attorney and possibly a news outlet that may be interested in reporting on their negligence.

Honestly, all this "I wanna new motor" nonsense is laughable.
Did it run out of oil?
Am I missing something here?

Ain't nothing wrong with the vehicle at this point. You got lucky.
If the motor had big time rotated in the chassis, then yeah .... total it.
Otherwise, it's kind of a non issue, mechanically speaking.

Shoddy work? absolutely.
Should you be pissed? yep ...
But beyond that, fix the leak and put back together the way it should have been and move on to the next case of shoddy workmanship.
As a mechanical engineer for over 25 years, many in the aerospace world, I have to disagree. As many people have already mentioned, any deviation in alignment or placement could’ve caused additional stress to components that may not be immediately identifiable but have experienced accelerated wear and possibly fail much earlier than “normal”. At very least an extended warranty should be demanded.

That actually sounds reasonable.

Demanding the vehicle get totaled or demanding an entirely new replacement powertrain/ driveline, or an all new vehicle, etc, etc ...
that is UN-reasonable. (In my humble opinion)
...and that was my point.
Don't get me wrong, I feel for our fellow Bronco owner getting a shoddy build, but all the clutching of pearls and angry fists shouting at the sky, calling for a full replacement vehicle and the sacrificing of Jim Farley's kids/grandkids ... get real.

Now, if we were talking about an OV-10 Bronco, then maybe an engineering deep dive into accelerated wear might be in order.

But we're not. We're talking about a U725 Bronco.

For whoever is interested:

Just wanted to follow up and let you guys know that Fords response through this while situation was absolutely pathetic. They basically refused to do anything significant because of the mileage on the vehicle (26,000). This is despite the fact that the vehicle only went to Ford dealerships for service and the issue was never identified prior to the engine wearing a hole in the oil pan due to it resting on the front differential.

I ended up getting a 900$ check. There was no investigation. Ford refused to have a conversation with me. All correspondence had to take place through the BBB.

Ford didn't give 2 F's that they completely screwed up. I hope you guys have better luck with your bonco's than I did.

So they paid you $900? Did that cover the cost?
