The Mach-E isn't a performance car. And yes, the Supra is a shit value, but still better than the Mach E... at least in can perform in more than ONE metric (0-60)

We have zero idea about how well the Mach-E will perform. It has a crazy low center of gravity so it’s fairly likely that for an SUV it will do extremely well..

Man, when something doesn't appeal to you, your first instinct is to kill it. That's a hard way to go through life, it will take years off your heart function.

Nothing to do with Subsidies, but Ford would be positioned as inferior to Tesla, psychologically, if they did not maintain the same Price Point as Tesla.

They are pushing it as a Gen1 Enthusiast buy, with nameplate and cost, and are charging more to let people feel special about buying it.

Price will come down, subsidies or not, once competitors beyond Tesla drop similar vehicles

Exactly, once the market has more offerings, then competitive pricing will fall into play. I think ford jumping on the market like this is going to push EV's into the mainstream far more than tesla. This will also get regular buyers "blue collar" like you and I, more used to the idea, and then when the F-150 EV hits the market, it will be more widely accepted.

Key phrase; "for an SUV"

It's not a performance CAR. It may be a performance SUV, but that'll still always be subpar in comparison to even a mild performance car.

Performance SUVs aren't impressive. It just means they were able to load a shitload of power into a big, bloated pile of shit

Features =/= performance. F1 cars don't have magride... would you say they handle worse than a Mustang because of that?

Magride isn't going to be the sole factor that determines how this thing handles. Ultimately, it's not going to match a Mustang... I'm even doubtful that it'll match whatever Tesla's shitbox is called

here's the difference; those are BRANDS, not MODELS. If Porsche would've called the Cayenne the "911 cross" or something like that, Porsche fans would've absolutely lost their shit. The BMW is the closest example, but even at that, Ford STILL fucked up the branding. BMW doesn't call their SUVs "M3 Cross", "M5 Adventure", and so on for an obvious reason... it would piss off the REAL M3 and M5 owners and provoke them to shop another brand.

BMW did it right... they used their performance moniker as a head nod and named it something completely different... "X3M", "X5M". Ford would've been fine JUST calling it "Mach E" (though it still may have been SLIGHTLY controversial, still not nearly as much as it is now), but they fucked up by trying to pawn it off as an ACTUAL Mustang

Yeah, I wouldn't even call it a performance SUV. It's a performance crossover, and I believe putting the Mustang name on it will bite Ford in the ass. Hopefully.

Such hate. I wonder how long before Mach-E owners find their cars vandalized, or get outright assaulted by the Mustang faithful. We must maintain purity, after all.

Yup. The shyt storm they got when they where putting out the Mach 1 reference made them change it to the Mach E. Even I was like....fine whatever. But then they shut the fack up about this Mustang name until last minute. Stupid James Hackett is gonna ruin the Mustang nameplate.

What the fvck happened to naming everything ST like Ford was doing?

The ST line is for gas powered vehicles.

The Mustang nameplate won't be messed up-people are so fucking short sighted with this-the positives outweigh the negatives...all the negative nancy's are saying its not my Mustang-who gives a shit what you think? The Mach E will perform like a Mustang and be more flexible then a Mustang for day to day driving. Its not replacing the coupe either. All its doing is challenging your narrow minded world view of what you think a Mustang "should be"

Could you be more pretentious?

This car is not a Mustang and never will be.

I sure can-but why isn't a Mustang? because you say so? that's the height of being pretentious.

RWD-Check
Good Performance-Check
Not replacing the Coupe-Check

No V8-Oh noes but it does have an Electric motor that produces 100% torque at 1 RPM
4 Doors? Oh noes-but hey it opens up the Mustang to people who want a more "practical" car

Guess what? its still happening and its a marketing masterstroke for Ford-they win no matter what.

Plus most Mustang enthusiasts track with BEV buyers

It is not a Mustang because the Mustang is a pony car and it literally has specific and objective criteria. So it is not a Mustang. It is you that insist on making an alternate reality. It is you that is trying to force something because you say so. So yeah that is rather pretentious, arrogant and etc etc....
