I seriously considered them but we get A LOT of salt on the roads in the winter and really worry about the electronics
I hadn't really thought of that but supposedly they're sealed well and the controller lives inside the vehicle I believe.

I had amp steps on my grand cherokee. The controller is sealed and tucked away, but the step motors are not 100% sealed, and I had one that got soaked and corroded and would only function intermittently. Nice when they worked, but the mechanism and motors do not like very dusty, wet, dirty environments.

This is my concern...between heavy snow (I have driven through a good 32" in my H3) and a couple of water crossings on trails nearby and the copious amount of salt on the roads in the winter, I really don't want to have to worry about power steps.

I just installed the OEM side steps on my 4-door base sas today mainly because my wife didn’t like jumping in. They are solid and seemed high quality, install was very easy took about 15 minutes total. 6 13mm bolts on each side into pre threaded holes. I liked the bronco lettering on the oem and not worried about ground clearance so they made the most sense to me. Both the wife and I are very happy with the results.

I'm also going to wait and see how much the RTR side steps/rails are once they come out.

Really appreciate you sharing. This is the best detail pic I’ve seen of OEM side steps to date, and they look pretty good! I’m considering using Ford Point to do the same, but haven’t seen them in person. Willing to post more close up and side view pics?

I think one thing that would help people is taking a pic from the inside as if you are stepping out of it. I drove one this weekend with steps and was noticing they are tucked in and hard to get your foot on from inside, very noticable getting out of the back. Maybe it doesnt matter as they are more used to get in, people can just "jump" down getting out.

Adding more pics - @goalie you are correct in that they aren’t as helpful getting out unless you take your time and turn your foot a bit. I just skip them and jump/slide down a lot, depends how much of a hurry I am in. But getting in, which seems to be a majority of our use case, is good. I tried to take a few pics from directly above/down the side so you can see how much it sticks out.

Its even Cyber Orange.

Sidesteps are absolutely brutal to your ground clearance. Keep that in mind if you plan on off-roading. Its the feature I like least on my Tremor and they would already be gone if I wasn't about to sell the truck.

With that said, go OEM. They are really nice looking and seemed really high quality when I used them in person.
This is what my wife uses to get into my 79 currently!
