What are the thoughts on coatings from the group? I've got a detached garage with a cinderblock base around that the wood frame is built on. Two car with some extra space built around (as much as I could sneak past the HOA).

I need to clean it out anyways so been thinking about using an epoxy coating or maybe some sort of overlay on the bare concrete. Any thoughts as to what's better? I was thinking about taking the epoxy up the side of the cinderblock as well. Would love to hear more feedback/experience with floor coatings/coverings.
Epoxy coatings looks really nice in a garage, but they can be very slippery if not installed correctly. Also don't use an epoxy coating if you plan on doing any welding in the garage. You can lay down welding blankets to mitigate the issue, but it can really be a PITA.

Contemplated this when building my detached garage. House garage was done by prior owner and it's meh... If you're willing to baby it (not work on it, not park hot tires in the summer on it, etc.) or pay oodles for a multi-layer professional coating then perhaps. I considered RaceDeck etc. but dirt just gets underneath it then, which again, I work in my garages and don't need my OCD triggered.

Don't plan on doing it any time soon, but that definitely falls under never say never. I used to weld back when I had access to such things, but haven't had the need or space in recent years. Garage definitely has the space now.

This is how I felt about it when I had it built. I didn't want to get something nice, then mess it up. Which I definitely will somehow. I will say that the new concrete was dusty as hell for a while. That's all subsided now from what I can tell. Looking at all these fancy garages though has me wondering if I should take something like that on.

Looks awesome Joe. I had to chuckle a bit with “forever home”. We did the same awhile back…that was three houses ago.😳
We blew our wad here. We thought we were really good at saving money. Turns out we are much better at spending it. 🤦‍♂️😂

A couple of things to put away still... But this shelving unit and bins are so much better than what we had before. About half done, community garage sale in a couple weeks should clear out the other half

Purpose built a few years ago. Love the way it turned it.
